If you don't mind me asking, what has mine and john wanes problem got to do with you?

I'm not getting giddy, I just have some knowledge of rugby league. I'm not a Wigan fan or a Wigan lad. If you knew anything about the reserve team he coached for 2 years that went unbeaten for about that amount of time you'd know he's already a top class coach aiding the development of a number of the players who played last night.

Don't forget his work with 'Madge' is like a partnership, Wane brings the emotional side out of the players and gives them a mental edge, especially in their defence which has been impressive in these last two games he and his teams he has coached very much pride themselves on their defence, so I think conceding just the 12 points in two games is a direct result of just Wane being there in charge.

Reserve rugby is nothing like super league. He's coaching kids in the reserves.

I'm sure Madge, being an excellent coach, would emphasise that its a team effort and that Shaun is a big part of that team.

Shaun talks sense. He understands RL and the history and culture of Wigan RL - he loves the club and everything it stands for. He is an uncompromising pursuer of excellence; his values - hard work, discipline and never giving up - are spot on. He puts great importance on developing young players. From what I have seen he is ready to embrace new ideas and techniques - he isn't a British coach who is afraid to innovate.

Whether Shaun is up to the demands of the top job remains to be seen, sometimes great youth coaches and assistant coaches can't make the step up for some reason.

Personally I would love him to be given that chance, he is Wigan through and through and has played a massive part in rebuilding this great club. Five years ago we were thrashed 70-0 by Leeds. Last night we were significantly better than Leeds in all areas of the park. Shaun has played a key role in getting this club back to the top of RL and in due course should be given the chance to carry on his work as the leader of the coaching team.

And to St Pete, Wane has coached U18 and U20 Wigan teams to Grand Final victories.
Ask any player who has been coached by him for their observations. They love him, because he treats them as adults, tells them what he expects and stands by them if they do what he wants.

However if you don't give 100% or follow his instructions then out you go.

In 2008 Wigan hammered Saints in the U20 semi final at KR. They then had a week with no game to prepare for the final, again v Saints at KR two weeks later.
Two players who had both played well in the semi missed a training session.

Guess what, he dropped them for the final.

Correction he coached some if not all of the "kids" on show in Wigans team last night in the reserves. the youngsters coming through and staking a claim for first grade action are his "kids"
he has also coached all of the players on show last night in the reserves at some time or other while he was reserve team coach.
