I agree, you cannot write off such a champion player but apart from the Penrith game where he was outstanding he seems to have aged quickly this year.
Could be that he is just carrying a knock and I hope that is the case as he doesn’t deserve to go out playing so far off the heights he achieved even in the last few years.

| Everyone is under the microscope when things aren’t going well and that includes Roby. Realistically he’s not been the old, marauding Roby for a few years and while still an exceptional player, he’s now more reliant on the team making space for him to work off the back of. I doubt he’s doing a great deal differently now to what he was doing last year but if your team isn’t rolling forward, isn’t camped in the opposition half etc, you’re just not going to have the same output and you suddenly look sluggish.
I remember the thread on here about us being a team that had 2 exceptional players and not much else a few weeks back and as I said on there, the 2 exceptional players hadn’t been in great form anyway, because however good you may be, you still need your teammates to lay the foundation and then are you an average team with 2 exceptional players? Or are you a good side that helps 2 really good players play exceptionally well? We’ve been the latter this past 3 weeks (although the 2 only played in the first game) and we’ve proved that those 2 can’t do what they do without the other lads laying a platform. Drop Field, French, Roby, Williams or whatever top player you can name in at Wakey, Cas or Hull this season and they do next to nothing.

Dont worry. He’s always watching. He’s always waiting. Next time we loose and Saints win he’ll be on here. Imagine the sh*te he’d of posted. I’m sure we was called flat track bullies just a couple of week ago. Well i think we’ve now solved that by rolling out Wigan B

| [list[/list Quote: MadDogg "Throw Huddersfield, Leeds, Hull KR and Salford in the mix as well. Personally feel 2023 thus far has been hugely positive for the game in this country with better attendances/atmospheres and more dangerous teams resulting in more appealing fixtures. Saints going through a slump has also helped to freshen things up a bit.'"
I would just like to take this moment to thank St Helens for pretending to be absolute plodders so that the whole league can thrive. Really inspirational stuff!!!

That Penrith win was your Everest. You have nothing left to achieve and that's hard to keep standards up as it is without the change in coach also to someone that doesn't seem as intense as Woolf. Very similar to us when Wane left in that regard.
I still wouldn't want to play your best side in a knockout game though.'"
We did that last year Egg

| Dodd's currently a million miles off a NRL contract, real second season syndrome at the moment, by no means writing him off but he looks like Harry Smith did when he had that 'mare period and look at Harry now.

| That’s a big injury he’s coming back from and he looks half a yard slower than he did before it. I’ve said before I think his career to date has been a little overrated but he does have loads of potential. He’d be best served staying in this country until his mid 20’s IMO but it’s a tough move to turn down.

As a Saints fan I have to agree he's been awful this season lucky he's not been dropped

| After the last 3 games I cannot think of any Saints players who would get in our team, not even the once great Roby.

Here we go - peak overreaction reached!
Phew, we can now start getting back to normality.

See I have just said what a Saints fan said about Wigan,I knew someone of the second best team of all time would react.
So getting back to normality is Saints slagging Wigan off now.

To be honest at this moment in time Welsby would make the subs bench.
Thats not taking the p*ss just what I think the way you lot are playing and the way we are.
I also think Wigan are in for a good shout to win the lot this year,as for St Helens it will be a big ask to turn the season round but you never know.
