Wigan------->Wire------->Cas------->?
Odd definition of "improvement".

Personally I think we'd be better served leaving him where he is should that be the case. Hull KR will be battling for as high a league position as possible for the playoffs so they will have the bigger games coming up for us. I doubt we'll rest anybody anyway even after the hub cap is sealed, unless they're carrying a knock. Momentum is always a huge factor going into the playoffs

Moz was immense in the first game, the mercurial Tomkins was the difference then.

Doubt that, you gave us alot of money for a washed up centre and gave us a fullback that we needed. We had Bridge to take Gleeson's Warrington and England place. Great deal for us.

I sincerely doubt anyone 'needs' a fullback like Mathers.

That washed up is not doing to bad this season is he compared to his new super replacement. And with the way he is playing just now he could just get another England call up at the end of the year along with one or two of his team mates.

Gleeson V Bridge stats
18 tries/assists combined in 17 games > 13 tries/assists combined in 21 games.

Just add up the tries scored outside each winger this season.

Gleeson doesn't look washed up at Wigan - obviously we must have better coaching staff who can get the best out of players.
We had the tea lady to take Mathers place so we improved in that area as well.

| yawn yawn Wire troll has to derail a topic yet again that has nothing to do with Wire shock. Gleeson has been great this year and had an excellent game on Friday night, why you had to be so predictable and bring up Mathers winning something last year I have no idea because he's still a liability and will continue to do so no matter at which club he's at. If he's that great why aren't you keeping him? Gleeson is still contracted for next season. Having said that I'd be more than happy to see Charnley get a few chances next year whether its for us or continue his spell with KR, either way he has a bright future ahead of him and it will be with the Wigan club.

To be honest, only someone who doesn't understand the game would argue that Gleeson has been a poor buy for Wigan.
He had his brief brainfart moment earlier in the season, for which he paid his dues. But otherwise, he's been good to excellent in Wigan colours. He's tackled very strongly, shoring up a three-quarter line that looked suspect in defence in previous years, and his quality centre play has fitted in very well with Mike Maguires 'fast ball to the wings' style. All the lads who've appeared on the Wigan wings this year have scored pots and pots of tries, and Martin Gleeson has played a very full part in this. If the England mob want to ignore him, that's fine by me. It keeps him all the fresher for us.
When you consider that, in part-exchange, we managed to unload Richie Mathers, who has been extraordinarily poor in most of the Wire matches I've seen televised, we did an excellent bit of business. Even against Saints last weekend, when Wire gave what was generally a very good performance, I heard Mathers named at least once for a knock-on that led to a Saints try. Wire fans trying to argue that the opposite is true are either plain stupid or just trying to make the best of a bad job (and not succeeding).
