You've allegedly stretched your SC beyond the limit through the HMRC NI dodge and you still have won feck all
19 years since you last got to a CC Final - I hear that you are re-naming your 'Trophy Room' to 'Room'
Warrington - the club where every cup has a saucer

We've won two trophies after the salary cap.
I don't get your point as Warrington have won feck all before and after the salary cap

(not trolling btw)
point is you 'were' a great team due to an unfair financial advantage.
a time when you used this unfair advantage to amass a substantial amount of success.
You mock other teams because you managed to win so many trophies when you were (in essence) in a league of 1 team.
Saints were the only team that kept close to you which is why they managed to overtake you when the fields were leveled.
Say what you like about Wire and all our recent financial gains due to a certain millionaire. Truth is money talks, always has always will.
Does everyone hate Wigan?
No
but we do find you arrogant in a similar way as people find Man Utd fans arrogant.
Difference being Man Utd are 'still' successful.
Warrington are rubbish yadda yadda yadda. Wigan are awesome

| Given the rise of Sam Tomkins I wonder if Smith is worth keeping. He will clearly be on a decent(ish) salary, and similar to Mathers, is playing in the reserves most of the time.
Releasing him could free up cap space for another mid-season signing (perhaps the prop we so desperately need).
It also appears to be a waste of an overseas spot (because lets face it - overseas plaers are meant to be very valuable and Bailey, Smith and Roberts are not imo).
Also the signing of Gleeson means that if/when Sam needs a break, we now have enuogh cover in the halves, with Goulding/Bailey able to cover Gleeson in the centre.
Whilst I think his contract does run out at the end of this year and we would be stupid to consider renewing it) I have to ask the benefit of keeping him. His defense is a liabilty as well!
Obviously if he stays then I really want him to do well because we have seen small glimpses of his talent - but is his realistically going to get a decent run of games (not coming of the bench) to get the confidence and match practise he needs??

And here is me thinking Leeds Wage bill throughout much of our glory years was significantly higher than Wigans according to reports, added to this they were full time pro at the same time, some report earlier.
Still if that does not fit your argument just ignore it.

| If we release him mid season his severance package will still count towards the cap so will leave us financially in the same position but a player down.

| The only was Wigan would release him would be as part of a player exchange deal or if the player requested it for personal reasosns (a la Barrett).
Regardless of opinions of him as a player he is part of the squad and if he was released who would cover at half-back?

Not that it matters but Gleeson, Phelps or Lockers.

Basically, if the player is entitled to money: i.e. the remainder of his contract.
What is interesting about the Barrett issue, is that although he requested to leave, he asked for a pay off due to the way Mo promised him a set figure of money top heavy over the final years of his contract.
I don't know how the Chairman worked it, but that money would have to be accounted for on the salary cap either last season or this. Given we signed two players at the back end of last season I wouldn't mind betting Barrett is still on the cap in some form this season.
