At every other club it would be "celebrating hertitage". Here it's "living in the past"

| My Dad had that on 9" vinyl when I was kid, always remembered it as an adult and taught all my southern RL convert friends the lyrics. We sing it all the time outside the pub on a weekend.

| It's the Uncle Joe's Mintballs Song! Wasn't it Mike Harding originally?
Now there’s a place in Wigan a place you all should know
A busy little factory where things are all the go
They don’t make Jakes or Eccles Cakes or things to stick on walls
But night and day they work away at Uncle Joe’s Mint Balls
Chorus (to be sung after each verse)
Uncle Joe’s Mint Balls keep you all aglow
Give ‘em to your grannie and watch the beggar go
Away with coughs and sniffles, take a few in hand
Suck ‘em and see, you’ll agree
They’re the best in all the land
Me dad has always wanted curly hair on his bald head
Suck an Uncle Joe’s Mint Ball that’s what the doctor said
So he got an Uncle Joe’s Mint Ball and sucked it all night long
When he got up next morning, he’d hairs all over his tongue
Me uncle Albert passed away from ale upon the brain

It was indeed! Round about mid 1970's, IIRC. I was born & brought up about 50 yards from the factory on Dorning St.

| We all had to learn Uncle Joe's at primary school. They changed the word 'buggar' to 'Granny' though

| It's to the tune of uncle joes but obviously the lyrics have been altered accordingly.
I believe they are;
Wigan Rugby Club the best in all the land
Marching on to Wembley and singing with the band
At home we are unbeatable, away we are supreme
So give us a cheer, the boys are here, Wigan Rugby team!

| It's a great song wish John Martin sound could up date it to today's players or I'm sure a singer songwriter could just watched it again on You Tube the rugby is pretty good too.

| Quote: Dougy "That 1987 side were something else!'"
Hanley, Goodway, Edwards, Gregory, Bell, Lydon, Case, Gill etc etc............. without doubt, the best Wigan team I have ever seen.
In 1986-87 won the League, Lancs Cup, JP Trophy and the Premiership, whilst only losing 3 games all season, and followed it up in October by winning the World Club Challenge with an all English XIII.
Statistically the 1994-95 were more successful, by virtue of winning the Challenge Cup, but anyone who saw the '87 team in action could have no doubt who were the best team.
As for the song, well it's played over the opening credits of the 86-87 season's dvd, and is annoyingly catchy. I often find myself humming it around the house or at work
