Prescott/luaki
Those two are a concern for me. Prescott injured again. I really like him as a player but he seems very fragile.
Lauaki? Never rated him and he has a lot to prove IMO.

| I agree that Prescott is injury prone, but if he puts a good run of games together he's up there with the best young forwards in SL
As for Lauaki I think he's a good squad player and does a decent job when on the pitch, makes decent yards and is hard to put down. Room for improvement though

| An experienced prop? Paul Wood? Who exactly is available? Did Morley or Carvell look that good tonight. People always want immediate solutions. What should Greg Burke do in the meantime? What should Jack Hughes in the meantime? twiddle their thumbs? I actually think Preccy not playing strengthened the team tonight. Dudson, Taylor, Flower all played well but most importantly will get better and better. Ageing warhorses get worse and worse until the knackers yard calls.

| IMO we made a mistake letting Stuart Fielden go, but thats my opinion. an old head, who has played very little in the last 2 years, so body would be in pretty good shape apart from when he had his injuries, and i thought he looked pretty good with the game time he had at the end of last season. i am pretty sure that the younger lads would appreciate him being around
Precky good hard running forward, but appears to be injury prone. solid defensively and had the measure of Jamie Peacock over last couple of seasons when they've played so certainly good enough
Lauaki IMO is a poor mans Feka, and i wasnt Feka's biggest fan. he should be an impact player, but i didnt see any impact when he came on last season. I agree that he was signed to give us something different, but havent seen it myself
we have some good young forwards, but sometimes an old head around the place is needed??
however how well did the old heads in the Wire pack do, i thought Morley and Carvell were pretty quiet for the majority of the game

I was concerned when I found out Preccy was missing and did think that was an absentee too far to give Wire a game but like you as the game progressed the thought crossed my mind we were not missing him BUT I do think you underrate him as a player a bit. I am with 21-12 on this about how good he is. Injuries are his problem.
Now Lauaki (met pet hate if you like) wasn't missed at all. He is the one who has most to fear from the younger players.
I don't know who is going to be fit next week but Wane has a devil of job if they all are. The longer you leave players out, especially props IMO, the harder it's going to be to warrant a slot back in the side. Not helped of course by the stupid U19 rules.

I agree. I have said numerous times it was a mistake given we lost Lima. If it was because (as someone posted elsewhere) it was down to Wane and him having a fall out that is not good. When people ask "who was available" the answer is Fielden.

| Harrison Hansen will be a big plus for us when he comes back but I must admit I'd like a big, explosive backrower to come in. I don't buy in to us needing a prop too much because I think the quality in those young lads that have the shirts in Dudson, Taylor and Mossop is through the roof and they'll only get better.
Show patience in these lads though and we'll be rewarded.

| Fielden played well last round but who expects him to do that round after round, let alone stay fit throughout.

Why not? Have you got a crystal ball? It's pointless going off past injury records unless the club has a real concern and I don't think there was any with SF.

Is it going off a crystal ball or is it going off his latest medical report from the Wigan club doctor?
We don't know and never will, but it would be a bit unlikely that after has player has been sidelined by injury for nearly two years, the club medical staff weren't at least consulted,

Prescott 'flies under the radar' and could be a world beater in my opinion. Unfortunately, as many have pointed out, he seems injury prone. Big shame, but some players are blighted by that .
Effort tonight was 100%. Farrell in particular. But we lacked a bit of class IMHO. Our attacking options were limited.
It's Ok though, as the rest are going backwards.
'Wolfs' will be in a very sad state next year, when all their ageing players fall apart at the same time.
The game was similar to NRL, which is far too boring for British audiences. 26 second row forwards.
And if Sam is a full back, I will show my backside on the town hall steps Get him in the halfs.

On the contrary, I think we do need a hard nosed prop. Every team does.
We built our great success around Graeme West in the early 80's. Later we got Greg Dowling.
Too many rough-house props now to mention. Platt, Skerrett,Cowie and Case to name a few.
Front rowers are usually about 30 or above, so have great experience.

| As far as I know we didn't let Fielden go. We were only willing to offer him a one year contract based on the fact he had been injured for the past two seasons, yet Huddersfield were able to offer him a two year contract on a much higher wage.
I don't blame Fielden for leaving for that reason.

| God, what would this be like if we'd lost and confirmed BK and DaveO's prejudices? Taylor in particular looked exactly like the big enforcer we're looking for. We ground down and got on top of the strongest pack in SL, without 5 of our better forwards. As our team settles down, we'll be there or thereabouts.
As for Fielden, the club would have been insane to offer him a 2 year contact after he gave us nothing over 2 years when we needed him. Let's back the players who put their bodies on their line for the club, not some mythical 1500 pound a minute "hero".
