I'm surprised he was risked last night tbh, I thought he'd give Spencer a game. Though with Pat and Lockers out Wane probably didn't want to risk repeating Widnes.

We definately had one eye on next week after having the game wrapped up by half time.

We did with Joe Mellor at fullback. I thought Mellor went well particularly defensively as Salford threw a lot at him.

Really got stuck in Mellor even picking up and dumping a Salford forward on his backside iirc near their line.

He's obviously lost some zip of the mark due to injury but if he can alter his game accordingly he can cut it at Wigan still.

Hopefully it is just a case of Wane giving Mossop a run out for 30 mins before next week and as we were well in control there was no need to put him back on. We may as well keep him fresh and we certainly need him for the Saints game.

I've never really been concerned about Mellor's defence, but Russell's has worried me for a few years. It's rarely been a problem at U20's level, even at fullback, because we've usually been too dominant for it to matter, but he's far from being up to SL level yet.

Mellor will get better and his confidence will grow the more games he plays. Playing in the halves with finch is going to do him the world of good. Russell will improve as he gets older, plays more games for Leigh and also taking his chance in the first team. Let's not forget he's only 18, not many people are playing first team at that age.

He looked fine today in the Grand .

If he's out, we'll go from having a small chance to no chance.

Saints in the space of two weeks have hit white hot form and if we're missing 2 or 3 props going into the game, it will have the same impact as when they knocked us out the playoffs last year when we had most of our big men missing.

He had no problems standing up for well over an hour at rosebridge yesterday signing autographs for the kids

Mossop will play against Saints.

That is a good point actually. Lauaki and Flower arent necessarily any better than the players that would replace them and at various points this season various posters have argued that neither should be in the 13/17.
