Watched the highlights of this earlier, certainly still lacks class. The better bit was for one of the Leicester tries where Ashton tried to tackle the player running down the wing from behind and simply ended up holding on to him and trying to push him out, in the end he pushed him towards the line and he scored the try.

I thought at first this might have been a grab at the back of the collar with an accidental hair grab.

But that was a bad one that, really blatant. Deserved to get a good chinning.

Strange though, when he was here he never said boo to a goose. Now he is becoming a right little weasel.

Thats very true, we were talking to him at length at the back end of the 06 season and he was the most pleasant quiet lad.. and we wished him all the best. and i still do wish him all the best!

Lindsay didnt like him and wanted him gone for the brass Northampton were giving, and on a starting wage of 140k a year who's to blame him. Having said that, he does seem to have become very angry/cocky and aggressive on the pitch, though nobody on these threads know him personally now so he may still be the pleasant lad he was. Christ we have some bitter Wigan fans on this thread!!

The explanation behind that is simple - Chris Ashton embarrassed the club in a way that other players who've left never have.

Even Andy Farrell, whose role (if he had one) in the luring of Joel Tomkins needs to be put under scrutiny, is still regarded in most of Wigan with affection. But Ashton - while he didn't do anything particularly serious, and while the club probably brought it on themselves because Mo had lost the plot - basically gave a big V-sign to Wigan RL at a time when everything seemed to be going wrong for us.

He may be a nice, quiet lad, as you say, but I think most Wigan fans will need more than casual assurances of that sort.

I must be in the minority then. I don't blame Ashton for going to RU. His attitude is terrible, but we knew that anyway.

He was a good RL player, not a great one.
