I've said before all the Super League Under 20s should be playing the National League sides in the Northern Rail Cup at least. It would boost both levels. I'm pretty sure Oldham 1st Team v Wigan Under 20s would generate more interest than Oldham v Gateshead. And personally I'd love some extra Sunday Afternoon rugby, providing it was done on a regional basis at first.'"
Great idea.

I just can't see how it wouldn't benefit both levels. The NL sides would think blimey we don't want to lose to a bunch of kids, and the bunch of kids would be well up for a test against older men. I reckon it'd generate interest from both sets of supporters and maybe even increased television coverage.

| Bilko, the RFL would be in a much better state if you were in control!

Oh I'd have highlights on national tv long before now, even if it meant ITV4, Channel 5 at midnight or even some obscure Freeview channel. Not like the Super League show, it'd be proper highlights of a game not televised by Sky. A highlights show that just shows what Sky has shown is not going to work.

| That certainly would devalue the competition Bilko. It's doing fine as it is. It would be great for the development of young players and would make some close games but we may get to a stage where we see 4 under 20's teams in the semi-final which would completely ruin the aim of that competition.

Maybe bring back the Yorkshire & Lancashire cups? Have the top u20s teams play the NL teams in those. Wigan u20s vs Leigh, Widnes, Oldham etc would be cracking.

As long as her blonde mate can co-present, then I'm all up for that.

| We need to get into schools across the UK. The venue for the magic weekend being the priority.
Kids round Cardiff are all taught rl for a few week/month prior to the event and given access to free/cheap tickets and the chance to play in between matches rather than having some mascot race crap. They'd love it.

| There is a big problem with visibility of the game, although Sky have put a bit of money in the coffers, it is tucked away on a Friday and Saturday night on a subscription channel and often against other sports.
It is absolutely vital we have a FTA agreement for some games in the coming years, Sky's monopoly has to go imho.
On the playing from, unless the likes of Wakey, Cas, Salford et al start movement to a position where they are spending the full cap, producing quality juniors and have a comprehensive and quality off field set up, we are wasting our time with the cap.
It is undoubtedly holding the big clubs back, the smaller clubs should be chasing them (not just financially), and not going through the motions knowing they'll be alright!

| 14 clubs, 26 games, no fake extra 'Magic' game.
Maximum of 3 non-British nationals per squad in SL.
No non-British players or coaches outside SL.
No salary cap for players developed by the club they play for.
All achieved gradually over five years.

| excluding exports is not necessarily the way forward either, it's a legal minefield for sure, but the last time we did that was in the 70's and we've never got close since.
Off the field is where the real improvements can be made. Look at us, Nobby is arguably the best English coach, but networks for the boys meant that his support staff was not the best. Maguire has come in and straight away changed the back room. A qualified and experienced conditioner in Bitcon etc, etc... and look at the turn around. Get the infrastructure (including the junior game!) right, the kids will come through thick and fast and be of the right quality.
