I get peoples reservations and in fairness to Wigan/Leeds Andy, he’s always very sensible with his posts, so I can live with his concerns about this appointment. I think we’re all unsure on how it will go but my view was always that unless a clean sweep was going to be done by totally clearing out the staff and letting a new man bring in his people and his players (which was never happening), then we should go back to Wane and what we know works. We’ve gone somewhere in between but we have good people involved and things can only get better (well once I’ve got watching Saints win another Grand Final out of the way on Saturday evening).

What he does have is a very good CV as an assistant, as an head coach at academy level and I personally have heard very good things about him. All things that will do for me.
Was/is Ciraldo even available? If not then it's all pipe dreams. If we can pick who we want then i'll have Cleary please. Isn't that simple is it.'"
You're obviously happy with Peet, that's fine. I don't know why you seem to have a problem with me wanting something different and giving my reason's for them.
Maybe Ciraldo was available, maybe he wasn't - he was someone I thought was potentially obtainable given he's an assistant and extremely well thought of who would make a big difference.
I don't envy Peet's job for next season, he's effectively coaching with one hand tied behind his back given the current squad he has.

He wouldn't have been my choice if I could have anyone BUT his CV and experience means he deserves a chance (IMO) so to shoot him down because he isn't from the NRL seems a little unfair.
If Peet is coaching with one arm behind his back because of the squad, then it doesn't matter who we bring in does it

| I don’t know how people can listen to Peet and Wane interviews on Wigan TV and not get excited.
Wane’s last great gift to the club will be support 3 young up and coming coaches who, if successful, could coach the club for the next decade plus (Peet/Briers/SOL/Tommy).

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, they haven't coached game 1 yet.

| I was really impressed with the interviews on Wigan TV. Wane’s role sounds perfect for him, Peet has a lot more experience than I thought and served his apprenticeship. Briers will bring different ideas and something new and SOL is a legend and by the sound of it going about things the right way.
I’m not saying we’ll go and steamroller the competition but I’m quite excited for next season and expect significant improvements from this year.

Did he though? I’m not sure promising people the moon on a stick was the right thing to do. Coming in after a period of us being coached to multiple trophies by one of the best in our history and taking over a champion team and claiming you’ll do things bigger, better and get us playing rugby league the 1982 Australian invincible’s couldn’t have matched sounded fabulous but was it the right thing? I don’t think it was.
Peet struck a great balance between being ambitious and optimistic about what we could do but was also realistic and made sure everyone knew it would be hard work first that would bring wins and that it would be nice to do that by playing good rugby. I felt a lot more assured about how he’ll go after yesterday’s press conference than I did before.

| It'll be interesting to see how the Peet/Wane dynamic plays out over time. There was an interesting moment in Wane's interview where he said I'm just here to give advice...unless I feel really strongly about something.

True but then again, why would you not listen to him? Ultimately the final decision is Peet’s and Peets alone but he’d be a fool not to listen to Wane - even if he didn’t do what he was advised. Peet strikes me as a strong character, I don’t think there’ll be many, if any, issues. Heated debates maybe but ultimately I’d rather that than a what we had under Lam.

| The same level of euphonic response by some supporters is no different to that of three seasons ago when Lam succeeded Wane as Head Coach.
However, many other supporters will be disappointed that a more experienced and proven successful Rugby League Head Coach has not been appointed, especially one from down under.
But, I supposed with the present poor financial state of the club, beggars cannot be choosers!

Guess I'm not quite convinced of that - I know its being sold as such but Wane won't have taken the role without significant influence. As I said in an earlier post there will need to be clear boundaries established in order for this to work.

100% and I guess it depends on the situation and what the job roles are.
