| The amount of stick that Wane has taken over his decision to promote Williams over Rocky beggars belief. Although very talented, Ryan was not physically near ready whereas Williams was. To hear people demanding the sacking of Smith for an untried talent was laughable. Hampshire needs time to mature, and at full back he would have been able to develop, but unfortunately not being played in his favored position damaged his confidence. I hope that he will come good but he needs someone to tell him not to believe the hype.

You sense he's being badly advised. If I had to give advise to any young player looking to make their way in the game it would be to stay at Wigan, take your opportunities when they come and keep working hard. If you can't trust Wane and Wigan to bring a young player through then who can you trust? The coaches and the clubs record of junior development is second to none. The club also has a policy of allowing its players to go and try the NRL or Union which means there's always opportunities cropping up. If your path is being blocked they will allow you out on loan and even allow you to play against them (ala Logan Tomkins and Jack Hughes prior to moving on permenantly).

| Three of the next four Cas games are on t.v. which should give us all a good look at how Hampshire is performing.

| Quote NickyKiss="NickyKiss"The one big worry I've always had with him is that he looks like he lacks a little confidence. He seems a decent lad but pretty quiet and as a halfback that's not going to make it easy to communicate. There's no doubting his natural ability. The lad is a fantastic young player but you sense his confidence has taken a hit over these past couple of years of[u what's seemingly been a frustrating time filling in at fullback whilst wanting to play in the halves[/u.
It'd be nice to see what he could do in a confident Cas side which was winning and playing well but unfortunately that Cas side will probably have Dorn and Roberts in it which means he then won't be.'"
If this is true, I don't understand how any young, unproved player thinks he can dictate what position he gets selected in.
At one time, kids would just be glad to get the first team call-up. They'd play wherever they were told and be thankful for it.
Someone needs to sit the lad down and say: "Everything that happened before you arrived in SL counts for nothing. You were a schoolboy then. This is a different game altogether."
Whichever club he's at, be it Wigan or Cas, I wish he'd just knuckle down and concentrate on showing what he can do on the pitch. Only that way will his dream be fulfilled.

Hampshire is starting at #6, no Roberts, Solomana at fullback.
No McGuire for Leeds.

| Defensively he's looking fine, hope he gets his hands on the ball more in the 2nd half.

| Doesn't look out of place to me so far. Obviously the go to man is Gale but he is doing a decent enough job alongside of him against a strong attacking team.

| Only saw the second half with a very poor picture, but it looked like he showed some decent touches. Was thinking rather quicker than his team-mates on one or two occasions. But Gale is indeed the go-to man; I thought he was very impressive. Defended well, too. Hampshire tackling, not as good.

| Hampshire defended very well tonight and gave 100% as did all the other players. In the previous 2 games he made 28 and 25 tackles which is very good for a half back, so his commitment has been good.
Came into the game in attack more in the 2nd half but most of the plays went through Gale who had his best game of the season. Overall though there wasn't a bad player on the Cas side tonight.

| Hampshire did well tonight. He made his tackles but got pushed bad in the tackle which is only to be expected as Leeds had Ferres running at him all night. Ball in hand, second half was much better as defences tired. He seemed to get a bit closer to "the ruck". First half he played a bit wider, but maybe that was part of Powells game plan. Kicking game was a mixed bag, some good, some bad. Overall 7/10 (I'm hard to please)
