Personally I don't think 2,500 is a "lack of demand" for any away game.'"
It is, in response to a call for more
2.5k is super for me.
Not for others maybe?

| Quote: Wigan/Leeds Andy "Your own Chief Executive would disagree with you on that one.
Getting to Wembley and winning the cup is worth more to the financial position of clubs than winning the GF and will therefore be at least an equivalent priority for those who run clubs and therefore their teams. Another who thinks otherwise is obviously trying to deflect their team's failure in the trophy over recent years.'"
in no shape or form is winning a challenge cup a comfort if you lose the gf. Saints in 07/08 can tell you that. Maybe the money men would be happy but not the players nor the fans. If you are a club like wire or hull it's massive. The ccf is a great day out but it means nowt if you are title contenders and get beat gf night.
this is not trollin I swear, for Wigan to win either trophy would be massive for you lot as it's been so long and it's the start of something new.
I agree it would be nice for Leeds to win the cup. IMHO I think the players want it more than the fans. but as a fan I would alway want to be champions over cc winners.

It's not either/or - you can have both.

| I've just explained on the Leeds board to those complaining about the cost of the game.
This is Wigans 5th consecutive away game, and we will have had only one home game in the last eight matches.
It's been an expensive couple of months for us who have been to all the games.

| There often seems to be a lack of demand for games in which the capacity has previously been believed to be not big enough (2004 CC Semi against Wire).
I wonder if it has anything to do with people feeling let down that the crowd and atmosphere won't be as good or maybe they initially thought they would never get hold of tickets and subsequently made plans not to attend.
Just a couple of possibilities - in all fairness such a poor turnout is not exactly what you're used to from Leeds.

Of course it is!
Unless you're saying that if you can't win the GF you'd rather win nothing

| No doubt if Leeds win on Saturday the Challenge Cup will suddenly become amazingly important to them

Which, of course, is an entirely different thing from saying "in no shape or form is winning a challenge cup a comfort if you lose the gf".
It quite clearly is.

| I seem to recall similar arguments when the GF was introduced, where people maintained that winning the league was the greater achievement. That argument has gradually disappeared as almost everyone now acknowledges that the GF is the greater prize. I suspect a similar process is underway with the CC and 10 years hence very few people will regard it as a comparable success. Which, if correct, is a great pity.
