Whether this was intentional or not is another matter, but the tackle was in all but the refs mind effected, and could be construed as a malicious attempt to injure someone.
If this had been a Saints player on a Wigan player I'd be saying the same thing. Coming in from the side on a stationary player directly attacking the knees is out of order. Has the potential to cause some serious long term damage.'"
It has the potential to put a player to ground in a live tackle. That is what it was, it was good technique to take a man to ground who was still an attacking threat.
Cunningham is not the ref he can or cannot decide when he is tackled, a player like him while the ball is live is always a threat. Sam legally sorted that threat out nothing more nothing less. Personally i would have been disgusted had he not completed the tackle.

The tackle hadn't been called held so the potential was there for Cunningham to get the ball away. Tomkins recognised that and went for a quick take down to stop him doing so.
Perfectly legal and above board.
If Cunningham had a problem with that i'm suprised he's lasted this long at the very top of the game.

| Obviously I was disapointed not to win but I was pleased that we are now one of the two best teams in superleague after the last couple of weeks... I think we are a better team than leeds and can now match(i thought a draw was a fair result) saints and beat them on our day!! we needed roberts and joel to keep hold of the ball a bit better and I think we would have won last night... that and sean O'l in the side... I think the one thing we can now say, which we havent been able to for a good few years is that we are not scared of anyone and will beat anyone on our day....
After the last few months improvement I am predicting at least one trophy this year, whether its the CC or Grand Final, I don't now... but I am confident that we can win one..

And if Meli hadnt messed up or if gilmour hadnt dropped the ball it would have been 16-0.
All ifs and buts

Maybe 16-6 but not 16-0 as gilmour dropped it near to the end... if you want to get picky...
The fact that most of saints fans have no finger nails this morning just shows what a competitive match it was... Therefore justifying my opinion that we are now one of the best two teams in superleague... after convincingly beating leeds last week...

Wasnt a cheap shot the tackle was not complete + he was tackled round legs not round head???
Before you start about cheap shot is this not the man who had a cheap shot and broke someones cheek bone.

| What's all the fuss about?
The tackle was not complete. Sam did the right thing.
Move on.

So the fact his blatant cheap shot did not cause a major injury makes it ok then?

| Missed the incident last night, just seen it for the first time.
Nothing wrong with it in the slightest. Tackle was still in progress - no whistle, no 'held', so play on and feel free to hit the attacker.
Tough for KFC he couldn't take a hit from little Sam, and spat his dummy. Are you telling me none of the Saints players would have hit a Wigan player in the same situation?? Didn't Ginger Graham smash into Bailey as third man while Bailey was motionless and prone to attack?
Saying that, Sam is a boney bugger, they're always the ones that hurt!

Later on in the game Gilmour does the exact same thing to Roberts, but the whistle had already gone. It happens KC should just put up and shut up.
