| i think that post is a bit harsh, there's a difference between 'old wives (grandads)' tales and a sporting event, one is an urban myth, the other is a live event where anything can happen, your team maybe 50 points down, if you leave early you could miss the try of the season scored by your team, some biff or just a great spell of rugby.
i started watching wire in 1998 when i was 8 and saw a lot of rough times, not once have i left early as the person who took me (my uncle) would never leave early. that has now been engrained in me, i dont leave any sporting event early and always clap my team off at the end, also i never boo. personally i hate it when fans boo their teams, wire included.
but as many posters have said, each to their own, it makes you no less of a fan if you choose to leave early, especially if you are someone who always stays to the end or usually stays to the end but NEEDS to leave early for a valid reason.
fortunately i have never had to leave a game early and long may that continue.
i think all this talk of the wigan walk is blown out of proportion, obviously a significant number of fans left early on friday but i think most of the flak down the the stereotype of the wigan walk so as soon as other fans see the wigan lot leaving early they are strait on it.
one thing i do not get though is when fans leave early to 'beat the traffic' when the game is on a tightrope of a score, i have seen it at united games when i had a season ticket there and also at rugby games.
the amount of fans that leave early in that situation baffles me, surely not all of them have a proper reason except to 'beat the traffic'
at te end of the day though, the most important thing is to get tickets sold to increase revenue for their clubs, no matter whether the paying fans choose to go, turn up late or leave early. money is needed for the clubs, the more the better end of

It was a good tip about the creosote though.
Mix 3/4 creosote to 1/4 sump oil and it works a treat

why don't you travel to Wrexham or Quins instead?
Both those sides could use your support and you live closer to both of them than Wigan?

it would actually be easier to travel straight up the A1 to Cas.
I actually support Wigan twofold
1. the team of 95/96 for the start of summer rugby
2. the friendliness i received in Wigan on my 1st vist to CP where my wife and I were invited to meet the players/manager and look around the trophy room etc
this of course could well change if i am told who or who not to support!!

| ok this is a forum and everyone is entitled to an opinion but at the end of the day if people want to leave early then let them leave.
it certainly didn't make any difference to the scoreline and neither should anyone ever think it will do. if it was a close game those people who left early may have stayed on i agree but at the end of the day who gives a $hit.
bit harsh for a fellow fan to call those who leave early. none of their business if you ask me. i stayed the 80 by the way before anyone pipes up.

I agree.
I've left games early myself.
You pay your money, you take your choice. Ultimately you are losing out I guess but sometimes the game can be as exciting as watching paint dry / you want to leave early to avoid the traffic / catch the last train etc etc

| I leave early every Friday home game due to work commitments. I have sat in the same seat for several seasons now and the supporters around me know and are sympathetic about the reasons that i leave early. I leave approx 5 mins early on a regular game but 7 or 8 mins early on a derby. Yes 2 or 3 minutes make a big difference on getting to work on time. Its a sh@tty situation but thats life. I cant go to away games on Friday anymore where in the past i never missed any. Some posters on here need to understand that as you get a little older and have other responsibilities you realise that life does not always revolve around Wigan Warriors.
