Because when the football fixture bids are submitted there were no rugby matches scheduled beyond 3 September. The bids were submitted in late May and at that stage we were not guarranteed a top 2 spot.
Bottom line is they have a fixture on 11 September and we wont have a home fixture guarranteed for that weekend until around 22 August. At that point the negotiations will start. I cannot seeing us playing before the Latics on a Friday night, but I can see us playing at 6pm on a Sunday, as long as Sky let us do that. |

Think there's a PL thing (or maybe its a football thing in general) that no side plays more than two games away. Sure I read that when they were saying how the fixtures are generated.

That could be the best piece of news this year as we are at home on the friday so it will prove that we can play the day before a football game.

The story has no quotes in it, and the people who have been speaking to the builders have said they are completely on schedule.
Just a bored journo who couldn't think of anything else to write, it's written into the contracters contract that if he doesn't get it done in time there will be massive fines, so it won't be switched.

At the time Whelan said it would have been no problem playing Friday then Saturday other than that they wasn't prepared for it cos they would have to get staff in to work all night.
Either way, we can just play on the Sunday with absolutely no problem. If not then its Sky effctively forcing us to play away from home. Sky could cost us the Championship.

The reason top plays on the Friday is to give us more recovery time for the next game, a reward for finishing top, if we can't play at home, and we are then forced, by Sky, to play on the Friday, then we lose our advantage, so really we should just opt to play on the Sunday. |

Where abouts?
According to the gazette we're in talks about switching it now, because the league want 100% confirmation it will be ready, and although the club are sure it will be done in time cannot 100% guarantee at this stage.
