| Ainscough isn't ready to be playing first team rugby every week, all aspects of his defence aren't good enough yet. People who saw the reserves yesterday will agree as he was caught out for both of Hull KR's tries. The lad is brilliant in attack but Pat has also scored a bagful of tries recently on that left wing and if Roberts had been playing that side this season he would also have had a shed load. Roberts is a good player and getting a lot of unfair criticism IMO after his start he played really well I thought. Being caught by Fox after about 60 metres whilst carrying a ball and constantly looking over your shoulder is no disgrace but Ainscough would of scored wouldn't he?

Ainscough wouldnt of scored, and I dont think our last try would of been scored either if Ainscough played. he certainly wouldnt have tried to go on the outside like Roberts did.

| Well i have not watched it again yet so i am going off my first impression and I have to say i was disappointed that when he put the foot down in clear space the fact is he did not look that quick.
There are different types of wingers obviously but we were told by all and sundry that he was a flying machine. We were told he needed a harder pitch etc. Well I know it was Fox chasing him but for me when it came down to it...
He didn't do what it says on the tin!
Now I also do not believe he can be as much of a none event as he has been so far. Not with his record in the NRL.
The only thing that worries me is we have given him four years.
If he doesn't seem fast now he's not going to get quicker and I just honestly can't say that SO FAR he has shown us anything worth really making a fuss about.
in all honesty. Can you?

| Seriously don't know why people are comparing Roberts to Ainscough, they are very different wingers.
People are now saying Ainscough wouldn't have scored that try, well do you honestly think Roberts would have scored some of the tries Ainy did? Never.
Roberts probably won't even score as many of Ainy all season.

You say you don't know people compare the 2 then you go and compare them yourself
If Roberts was on the left wing he would of scored a lot more tries

You're right I did, to show how silly the argument is.
Just as someone can't possibly say a person would have done this or done that, can't possibly say that.

| The thing is with the 2 is that neither are great in the air... I haven't seen Roberts catch a high bomb (even from our team) yet this season and as for Ainscough we all know that subject.
Thing is with Roberts, he's never had a solid centre (Gleeson now injured, before that he has had Pryce, Goulding, Bailey and Phelps) unlike Pat who has had pretty much 2 solid seasons playing with Carmont inside of him. Also, I can't recall Roberts needing to finish a move off or actually do some form of Wing Finishing from a few yards out or slightly further. Vs Salford Richards scored 3 walk-ins and Roberts hasn't had 1 this year. Same with Ainscough, he has had to work for most of his tries.
It just shows that we are far stronger down the left going forwards than we are down the right. This could be down to a number of things: 1) The halfbacks arent good enough passing from left to right, 2) the centre isn't good enough, 3) We don't have confidence down that wing.

| Half backs are the problem. Gleeson has proved he's a top class centre throughout his career.
Sooner have the all Wigan Gleeson Ainscough partnership develop.
Bottom line is, Ainscough came through the youth system at little cost, Roberts was brought in from the other side of the world and given a 4 year deal at 28, at probably a good cost.
Considering all the factors, I'd take Ainscough any day of the week.

| I've made my feelings clear a few times about roberts i think his positonal play is kind of shocking and it got showed last night
If you look at ainscough fair enough his defence needs quite a bit of work on but the lad was top try scorer in the league, scored 4 tries and then got dropped wtf!!!!
Imo i think we should play ainscough and in defence switch him and (pat/phelps) honestly i really think it would work and he can just improve the more games he plays
