[]b]Worst Game....Easter Monday, 17th April 2006, days before Noble joined us, we lost at home to Harlequins 18-30, especially the first 40 mins, probably the worst performance from a Wigan team I have ever seen, and that includes the season we were relegated
I'd blocked that one out. It was bl00dy freezing & you're right, we were utterly clueless. I remember talking to my Grandad after the match & saying it was the first time I'd ever been bored at a match. Happened a few times since, mind. That said, the first 15 mins of Michael Dobson's first home game for us was a great moment, simply because he put 4 or 5 decent kicks in & you sensed belief starting to come back into the crowd.'"
Dobson didn't make his debut till 27 th May in a 14-28 defeat to Saints.
The H'Quins game was a 12-30 ko, our team was..
Moran, Ashton, Richards, S.Gleeson, Dallas, Brown, Orr, Hargreaves, Higham, Wilkes (debut), Tickle, Jonkers, O'Loughlin...subs, Feka, Godwin, O'Carroll, James,...Stuart Wilkinson was acting coach in charge.

| Best Game....difficult this as there has been so many, but I have to go for the 27 - 0 game v Saints at Wembley in 1989. After being there and seeing us beaten by them in 1961 and 1966 it was special. No matter what Saints speccies tell you that score hurts more than anything in their history.
Worst Game....April 11th 1980, Castleford away lost 13 - 21. Th game that sent us down to the second division.
Best Player....Boston. There are not enough superlatives to describe him, no matter how hard anyone tries. All those lucky enough to have seen him pull on that famous cherry and white jersey should thank God for that privilege.
Best Atmosphere....Manly at Central Park. Even supporters from other teams were there that night willing us on. We didn't get back to Billinge until almost midnight.
Favourite Game... As a Rugby League supporter no doubt. Being in Melbourne June 26th 1992. Australia 10 Great Britain 33.
Eight Wigan players, Offiah, Edwards and the Wigan six pack Skerrett, Dermott, Platt, Betts, McGinty and Clarke.
Opposition speccies (British) deriding that pack, then coming to us after the game shaking our hands "Your lads did us proud"
The conga in the rain around Princess Park. Singing "always look on the bright side of life" to the Aussies, who looked on in disbelief. The look on Billy McGintys face when he was subbed as he saw the conga, and the all night part after.
Getting on the coach next morning to the airport to fly up to the Gold Coast and seeing men pouring lager on their cornflakes.
PRICELESS.

The 50-26 Playoff win in Perpignan september 08, there couldnt have been 2 wigan fans that walked past each other that day, just a great atmosphere and a fabulous performance from the team!
The Win at Murrayfield May 09 was special too aswell as the playoff wins at Odsal and Hull in 07.
Worst Game(s)
The Quins home game in apr 06 was dire, i remember everyone watching as Mclindens kick was allowed to bounce and then he recaught it and scored.
The 2 semis ve catalan and Warrington 07 and 09 respectively were low points too.'"
Great couple of days those, I remember someone singing 'Flower of Scotland' in the Prix bar, cant think who started that !!!!, and what about that landing at Liverpool airport....
That was the game I chose ( v Quins ), as bad a performance I've seen from any Wigan side, I was convinced we would be relegated that day, then Noble and Fielden came and things picked up.

| Quote: WIGAN FOREVER "It wasn't long before that when we couldn't buy a win at Hilton Park. I was sick of the sight of Drummond and Woods and whichever local unknown had decided to have the game of his life against Wigan.
Couple of other moments that stick out for me and that the forty somethings amongst us may recall are3. The last minute winner in the 1990 challenge cup semi when Ellery Hanley put Goodway over against St Helens at Old Trafford. Mayhem on three sides of the ground. Saints had the Stretford end that day, we had the rest. That night against Manly tops the lot though.'"
I was in the opposite end to the Stretford End. There were Saints fans in the seats above the terraced section where the Wigan fans were. Some bloke in his 40's was absolutely wasted & spent much of the half-time break trying to climb up the wall to get to them. The police started out trying to stop him & then just stood there laughing at him

Best Game - wigan vs manly - the aussies were so confident they thought it would be a walk in the park..... a run out.... graham lowe deliberatly put an all english team out..... and we sent the aussies back home with should i say tail between their legs... and they did not like it one bit ..
Best Moment - brett kennys class try at wemberly 85 just ran as fast as he needed to never hit full speed... pure class moment eay french and alex murphy were having fits in the bbc commentry room on tele
most electric player - john ferguson - unbelievable.... it got to the stage with him that if we were in trouble give fergie the ball and he would score for us....very strong and elusive player....
Best Player - ellery hanly
most skillfull - brett kenny - had everything again another one who if things were going wrong everyone in the crowd would expect him to do his magic.
Best Atmosphere - gotta be manly - nothing else comes close
Worst Moment - realising our great cup run was over.

Pretty much sums it up 100%.
For those who haven't seen it, watch the John Fergusson try in the 1985 cup final. He took a looping pass from Ian Potter (no pace on it at all) from a standing start, shimmied and went around the winger. Sheer class (as Stevo might say).

when wigan signed john ferguson it was on the back of brett kenny...
we got brett at the top of his game but everyone was saying ` a john ... who..... ferginson... no ferguson`
brilliant player...... when he recieved the ball from potter in the 85 final if you could pause that moment and get betting odds that he would score william hill would have given you 1-1000 ... not 1000 - 1 he made dane o`hara look like a fool and o`hara at the time was a new zeland test winger and a damn good one at that...
BUT
fergusons second try in the same final was totally unbelievable.
just had his leg strapped up for either a ded leg or hamstring problem.... alex murphy was screaming they should substitute him as he is as useless as a chocolate fireguard and dane o`hara again missed a pass and fergie got the ball and ran as if `what sore leg` and scored.... murphy could not believe it... and me and 97,000 speccies could not as well.....

that was one of the funniest bits of commentary ever. murphy would often come out with garbage but this one took the biscuit.it was literally a split second after he stopped screaming for us to take fergie off that he picked up the loose ball and ran from halfway to score. priceless, good old murp.
