Quote LovesToSpooge="LovesToSpooge"For me the circumstances we find are selves in I feel will be hampering are recruitment effort, after all who is making the decisions on whom to sign, Lenegan?
Is the new coach already calling shots on who to sign without being here? If were competing with others clubs for players such as Myler and they want to no who the coach is and speak to him about how they would fit into the clubs plans, can they?'"
At the end of the day, it's surely more about how much money they're paying you and which club you're going to be playing for?
Noble may be a lame duck coach at present, but if the money's right (and you can be pretty sure there'll be a coach who's at least as good as Noble, if not better, at Wigan, when your first season here starts), then we're not going to look any worse a prospect than any other club.
Lots of people talk about this type uncertainty we're going through as though it doesn't afflict other clubs. Whenever a coach is changed, there's bound to be this sort of atmosphere. Very few clubs lose their coach without some kind of cross-over difficulty. Most players will have experienced something similar. I doubt it'll be a huge consideration.
In addition, I no longer buy into this Alex Murphy era folklorism about the coach being the main man when it comes to recruitment. He doubtless has a key role to play, but he doesn't sign the cheques or negotiate the Salary Cap era economics of the new contract.
