Quote: NickyKiss "He is jumping about from one extreme to the other with Wigan, probably to get clicks in fairness. Things are never as bad as they seem but they need to get recruitment spot on this time and they need to get the coaching appointment right.

In times like this everything is magnified and everyone is under pressure and being called out but it’s a knock on effect both ways. The effect of having Lam as coach is that he gets nowhere near the best from any player, the frustration grows, the experienced heads get called out, the young lads get accused of not being good enough, the fans go in to uproar, the crowds drop and pressure comes on the management. On the flip side appoint a good coach and he gets the best from his players, the older heads lead the way, the young lads find it easier and improve, kids who come in find it easier, the fans are buzzing, the crowds increase and nobody talks about the management.

We’re a good coaching appointment and a few good signings away from being where we want to be again. What I’d like to see is us not trying to be clever next season with Wane as some sort of Rugby Director, just bring him back as head coach and give him free reign. Rads needs to tell himself that he’s better served having business lunches with the guys from whisky and tyre companies and let Wane run the rugby side but as head coach. He can do the recruitment side if things in that role and delegate things to guys like Lockers and Peet but let’s not blur the lines by having everyone guessing who is actually top man.'"

In 2018 I was over joyed Wane was leaving. I’d been calling (on/off) for him to go for months before that IIRC.

Never have I been so wrong or so blinded. Since he left listening to his podcast interviews he’s completely changed what I thought. The only thing that drove him was success in every department from the kit man to the players - and everyone had to buy into it. I’d have Shaun Wane back in charge in a heartbeat but part of me also thinks it’s been and gone. We need refreshing, a clean slate across the board.

The only thing I’m 100% certain of is that if required I’ll chip in for Adrian Lam’s flight home.

I had a couple of silly moments calling for Wane to go (after a thumping away at Catalans I recall once but I was sat lashed on the coach outside the ground) but what a job he did. He had every issue Lam has faced (poor recruitment in the front row, good players leaving and constant injury problems) but other than the odd blip, you knew watch what we were trying to achieve, how we wanted to play and you knew this time of the year was go time and the players would fire up.

I can only imagine how embarrassed he must’ve been with that last night.

Quote: Tricky Dicky "I actually thought the club did a good job of the pre match entertainment last night. I thought the build up to the game was good'"

Do you? I thought it was poor. The sound from the band was awful, muffled noise.

The best part about last night was 'Sweet Caroline' where for a brief moment in time the Wigan fans and Saints fans sang together in unison. I enjoyed that.

I can’t blame Lam. He’s like the Skipper of a 5* cruise ship, but powered by an outboard engine, and a time served carpenter supplied with a butter knife.
The person/a responsible for recruitment, is the person/s responsible for the current demise.
Packs win games, backs control by how much.

The same people who have assembled 4 GF winning squads, more youth development through the system in the last 10/12 years than you'll probably ever produce and a 4th WCC

Thanks for your input but I think ill trust my own judgements

Lam is getting no more 50% of the best his players.

Quote: JIMMY MAGNETS "No attack whatsoever, not set plays no idea . Goodbye Mr Lam. Great player cr@p coach!!'"

Whilst I agree, we had nothing at all in attack. Getting Wane in would make some immediate gains:-

1. In defence we would move up as a defensive line, and try and force the error, rather than letting the opposition come to us, thus gaining 10m every play.
2. In attack we would run onto the ball. At the moment we are passing it too far back and receiving it flat footed, being easy to smother as an advancing defensive line, and struggling to make any meters on any set.

basic coaching, no more no less.

No surprise that Lam is still in charge. I just can’t fathom why he hasn’t been sacked. What are we waiting for? If Leeds do us on Wednesday and we don’t score again (in either half) what possible reason is there for him to still be in a job come Thursday? Absolute joke.

My only thinking is that this season is now a write off and changing the coach will have little impact and might mess his plans up for 2022.

Long term he's probably thinking it's probably better just to wait. If I was Peet, I'd prefer to wait 5 weeks and then start. He'd be on a hiding to nothing if he took over now Vs having a preseason to build up confidence + new signings.

IL should have pulled the trigger months ago. He's not and now there's little point.

I think that, sadly, we've passed a point where changes won't make a difference to this season.

IL has royally messed this season up & it's impacted his legacy (or at least it has with me). Game one of the season there was a post about needing a new prop - it never came and as such we've had no go forward. Everyone could see it. We even had opposition fans saying that it would transform the side.

Likewise, Lam has been poor for a while and should have gone weeks ago. He didn't and now we're stuck with him.

IL has an opportunity about 6/7 weeks ago to do something about it and didn't. The inaction has cost us this season imo and he's going to have to work very hard to build up interest and trust for 2022.

Unless there is a major signing for 2022 I don’t see how the club can rack up interest for 2022.
It’s the same old same old promoting Peet and bringing back Wane.
Bringing in Miller for TL is not going to bring old fans back or create interest for new fans.
KR I believe thinks that Miller will be a great signing. I just shake my head in disbelief.

I think that we are stuffed until IL decides to depart. The biggest problem for me is who will take on the club or more precisely if IL just let’s us drift into mediocrity or even worse because he can’t sell the club.

We’ve had 3 years of total utter tripe which should have been negated no later than Lam’s first season.

If IL doesn’t want to run the club which could be a distinct possibility then we may look back on the last 3 years as a “golden period” unless Danson or some other party with tens of millions going spare sorts out the decline which is staring us in the face.

I’ve seen bad times previously but this one feels just that little bit different. I’m mot sure why I feel this way maybe listening to Lam’s interviews over the last 3 years has addled my brain or maybe as a club we have finally run out of passion for the club

If rumours are true and Peet/Wane will be running things next year it makes no sense in keeping Lam on.

They are both at the club and whilst they may not be able to perform miracles this year getting them in early can only assist in our preparations for next year as they are able to put a mark on the team now rather than at the start of next year.

To put it bluntly, the fans will be the issue.

If Peet comes in and doesn't win another game, or even just gets pumped by Leeds, then we know what the chatter will be like. He'll have an even bigger fight on his hands.

The whole situation is farcical. Like you said, most if not everyone could see our issues months ago but we did nothing about it.

I’m sick and tired of talking about it. It’s genuinely draining any enthusiasm I have because a coaching change and just an idea of what to do with the ball this season isn’t over. I’m not saying we’d win it, that’s borderline delusional, but we could have a bloody good crack. Instead we’ll drop out the 6 and limp to the seasons end and for what? So Rads doesn’t upset his p**spot mate?

No one person should be bigger than the club but at the minute it looks evermore like Adrian Lam is. I’d love to know what he’s got on IL or Rads. Whatever it is it’s got to be good for him to be so useless but stay in a job for so long.
