| im actually more excited about the game now to be honest.
what would we have got if we sent a full squad? a borefest and a walkover (no offense to leigh)
but now the reserves will be playing and it will be like their grand final! they will all want to put one over their local rivals and prove that they can make it.
what an incentive for these young lads to impress.

They may set the price, but Wigan decide which team plays. If they'd intended this to be a reserve side then they should have been upfront an said so, not come out with this guff aout giving some of the youngsters a game. There's a world of difference in playing some (even the majority) of the younger players in a game that allows so many subs and fielding none of the first team regulars! Our club is complicit in this con (in fact, until I hear that they knew of our intentions to field a reserve side I'm not even sure Leigh have any part in this as far as I am concerned) and they've lost a lot of the respect and faith I had started to have under the new regime. Frankly, this team could have been announced immediately after the Wakey game as it is now obvious that there was never any intentention of fielding any of the first teamers! As I said, a disgrace in my opinion and a cynical move to fleece the fans.

I cant wait for this match, it will be more evenly matched than if we put out a first team and battered them. You've got your ticket, the moneys gone, just go and enjoy the match!'"
Whilst I repect you have your own opinion on this, the bit underlined is the crucial point. Why should we accept being fleeced just because it's "we can't do anything about it" (sic). I would have gone and enjoyed it had they announced it as a reserve game, but not if the price had been £14 per ticket and, ultimately, that should be my choice.
Let's put it this way; had I booked to see my favourite band and, 2 days before the gig, they announced that the main act wouldn't be performing and only the support act would be, do you think there would be refunds offered or would they say "tough, you've paid now so you'll have to put up with it"? I've paid to watch the first team, not the reserves (and let's be honest, £14 per ticket is most definitely first team prices for a friendly!!)

If you care so strongly about it then go to the club and take it up with them in the morning, the ticket office is open at 9 AFAIK.
Im just looking forward to seeing a game of rugby.

I have emailed the club. I too would enjoy seeing the youngsters play, as I have in the past. That doesn't mean I need to accept being fleeced for the privilege. The fact that many (most?) will be giving the game a swerve now they know the price for what is effectively a reserve game and not only that, but a pre-season reserve friendly to boot! The reserve final was half these prices and that's their biggest game of the season!
Sorry to sound like a cheapskate but I, like most fans, support the the club with season tickets, merchandise etc. without being taken advantage of! It's not so much the money as the principal I object to. Would it have been so difficult to announce there would have been no first team regulars playing in this game earlier? Let's face it, they made plenty enough announcements that skirted the issue as I said. Why the secrecy if it wasn't to get as many ticket sales as possible before the team was announced?
For the record, I am more than happy to support the younger players in games like this. It's just that the club should be upfront about it. I find the way they have gone about this reprehensible but I accept that this is only my (and many other people's) opinion. As I said in my band analogy, they wouln't get away with it in any other walk of life. If the club think this is a good way to treat the fans, then I have to say I strongly disagree. I know they've coloured my view.

| I'm delighted with the team selection, personally. Neither side would have learned anything from a tonking.
Think a degree of disrespect is being shown to some of the Wigan players; they might not be 'first team players' at this moment in time, but they certainly will be within the next year or two at the very most. Let's not forget that a certain Tomkins (no, not Joel or Logan) would be lining up on Sunday if it was a similar selection policy last season.

| As a Leyther, I object to the 'its an academy game' mindset on here. This is going to be close on Leighs first team that will be playing. OK, so we're not an SL side, but we're a damn sight better than an academy team. What do you pay for a normal game at the piedome? £20? And £3 to watch the academy? £14 is somewhere in the middle and about right IMHO

Pay on the gate in South Stand is £16 (we're not Hull KR or Wakey).
My season ticket was £169 so that's about £13 per SL match, now compare that to the Academy friendly?

| Will the selection make the game closer? Yes.
Is it worth £14? Well you have to make your own minds up on that. Personally my money is staying in my wallet (the moths will be pleased )

| Go and watch a local NCL or NWC game tomorrow, throw a £1 in the bucket that will go to a local club and see a well matched game of rugby. Why you'd pay £14 to watch a low grade friendly just because the team is playing under the Wigan banner is beyond me.

Why on earth have you bought tickets for a game like this in advance?
