| Kai Pearce Paul looks like a future international to me, such a gifted player.

| I think we are going to have some fun with Mago this year. Looks like a very entertaining player. Few errors in him but looks like he wants to promote the ball. Ellis looked very hardworking and solid.
Thought all our middles went well with the exception of Singleton who had a poor game.
KPP whilst not able to highlight his attacking flair showed that even in defence his unconventional style is very effective. He was like a spider clinging to SKD stopping his threat and neutralising his offload.
Field positionally in attack looks very good.
Not a great performance by any stretch but given the performance of the ref and the improvements in key areas it was a very positive start. Balanced and clinical.
Discipline needs sharpening up, few daft ones given away last night.

| Thought that was a very workmanlike performance. Not too much attacking flair in evidence although there were a few individuals who showed what they can do if given the opportunity. Field as MOM was brilliant and I was very reassured after his few outings last year. I haven’t been to a live game for nearly two years as I am classed as “vulnerable” for covid but I have bought my ticket fir the Leeds game and can’t wait!

Agree with all of that particularly the referee. Child spoils virtually every game he refs. The worst ref I’ve ever seen in the professional game.
I’ve got a feeling that Cust is going to love the atmosphere next week against Leeds and we will see him playing even better.

| Encouraging performance (if not that great) and miles better than the dross from last year. Field can pick a pass nicely - some very good link up play. Cust looks like a proper half-back - nothing flash but effective and at last a decent kicking game (even pinning HKR in their in goal for a drop outs there's a blast from the past). Powell running from dummy half more and putting the defense on the back foot. Mago looks a handful but just needs pick when to off-load.
Some rustiness/errors to sort out and the goal kicking is still an issue but there were more attacking ideas in that game than most of last season put together. It is something to build on for certain.

Our props got on the front foot and won the ruck so Powell could run more from dummy half. Everything about us was different and better.

| As encouraging as it was, we do need to be better, more clinical and less penalty prone versus Leeds and moving onwards. I’m not worried and very much appreciate and understand this is a work in progress and a team in transition.
Leeds will be a huge test and a proper benchmark IMO. They looked well drilled v Warrington and bar the red card, Austin and Newman missing they’d probably have won that comfortably. They’re a team to be wary of this season so to get the win on Friday would be a superb result.

| Agreed. I thought Leeds were good; they nearly won with 12, and surely would have done so with 13.

Definitely we need to be better. Our discipline at times in the first half was dire, way too many silly penalties. Leeds will be a huge threat this week, both teams have unknowns, plenty of new players in key positions. If it clicks, either team could be superb, and also either team could have a really off day given the numbers of new signings. Very intriguing.

| Cut out the silly penalties and the 3 or 4 forward passes and we’ll be tough to beat in most games.

Should be a cracking game - looking forward to it (albeit I thought the same about Wigan HKR and that was a bit disappointing other than some very well taken tries).
