`The start of the rugby league season used to be cause for celebration in these parts but now its arrival will mean that an already treacherous surface at the DW Stadium will got from bad to worse` ...

| Don't care in the slightest.
As long as the surface is ok for us and we can't get screwed by lease loopholes, then I don't care. Luckily we don't have premadonnas who need a crown green bowling style pitch to play our sport.

| Could the state of the pitch be at all down to all year round useage and building in stadium somewhere called marsh green?
Anyhow saw this quote in the guardians match report and thought it would bring a smile;
Quote: "It was, however, a good, thoughtful gesture, even if Wigan's true affections were displayed by the faint lines that marked out the rugby league pitch.

They were giving them out in town on Tuesday. Had the mascot down near their shop (which I didn't know existed)
I walked by with my 2 kids and said your not having that rubbish
On the pitch just seen Sky News, yes it is our fault, because some d*** off sky says so

| I latics mate of mine txt me last night asking what the Warriors had done to the pitch, he seemed to be oblivious that it was already like that before the rugby started. Its funny how there are several other ground shares, between rugby league, union and football teams and yet there isnt the same sort of problems with them, Hull and Hudderfield being good examples. So why isnt there any problems with them, maybe just maybe the pitch at the DW is just terrible no matter what is played on there. If other grounds dont have the same problem, the clearly the problem isnt rugby its the pitch, not that i expect the narrown minded uneducated football loving media to understand this or do any research into it.
I think we should be the ones who are complaining, when you rent a stadium you expect a good pitch, and its a disgrace, isnt this when you call your landlord and get them to sort it out!!!!

we will leave the pitch in an excellent state for them. its nothing to do with rugby, rugby doesnt wear the grass like football does in specific areas, touchline, centre spot, goal areas etc.

| Perhaps the jounos might learn one day that the ground is built in an area of Wigan called Marsh Green.
The housing estate was built on the Green, the DW on the Marsh!
Nothing to do with the 'tics or us, just a matter of where the place is!

| Headingly is used as a cricket ground car park and rugby union and rugby league so cant really use that one. Only the KC and Huddersfield are used the same as us.

| When this new pitch was laid there was a video with the groundsman on the wigan website and he was saying it would stand up to anything aslong as it got treated every 6 months or so.
It had that last season when we moved our Wakefield game but theres been no sign of it since.
Penny pinching from Whelan by any chance?

The KC Stadium wasn't particularly great for Hull - Huddersfield at the weekend. Having two sports playing all year round on a pitch will have an adverse effect but as it has been said a thousand times the reason the Latics played in a bog last night is because it is built on a bog.
If the Latics ever get their way and remove us from the stadium then perhaps they - and the journalists in the press - might notice that.

| Yeas but they were in far better condition compared to the DW. I dont think a terrible winter has helped anyone.
