Mago was very good - Peet put him through it tonight with a near half hour stint in the 2nd half. Absolutely ziggered but should do him good. Thought Kaide Ellis and Ethan Havard were strong as well.

Found it a little bizarre that Peet took French off - looked as if Bevan couldn't believe it either.

I’m torn on it. I’m only saying it will be 8 and should be 8 on the basis that they set that precedent but I’m not sure I agree with it. The coaches and captains of each team need to come together in the next off season and discuss what they want the game to look like. This lying on the floor, milking penalties bol*ocks needs to end. If we end that, players won’t get done for dragging players to their feet because as proper rugby league players, they’ll know if you stay down, you are hurt.

I’m genuinely not saying this for a rise or to get a reaction from Saints fans, but it’s something Saints really brought in to the game 2 or 3 seasons ago and other sides have now jumped on it, including ourselves. It needs to go and sharpish but it will only go if teams agree it’s a pathetic way of trying to gain an advantage.

Well, to put a more positive slant on that, more in keeping with the occasion , French himself has never made any secret of of the fact that he regards himself as a full-back, so if he still thinks that, and he is 'putting in a shift for the team', then he's not doing a bad job, is he? How many Superleague coaches are watching that, and thinking, I wish I had him in my team?

Stunning performance. Very few errors and, in truth, could have had more. Can't believe they took Bevan off though. In an era where getting bums on seats is a struggle, he and field are pure box office. Not to mention, with 23 minutes left, I reckon he could have had 10! That's a marketing dream. What were they thinking?

Peet needs to answer that question. It was really weird. I honestly think it was an error on his part. I think he wanted to let him get a standing ovation off the pitch but you do that with a couple of minute left and with him stuck on a meagre 7 or 8 try’s.

I genuinely think it was a mistake. I'll elaborate on why I think that in a day or two as I don't want anything to detract from an outstanding team performance and history being made by Bevan. Tremendous entertainment. Anyone who didn't go missed out and that's how it should be

Just seen the stats for French this season in superleague. He’s got 20 try’s and 11 assists in 20 games. That is absolutely astonishing! Field has 17 try’s and 12 assists. Our right wing has 15 try’s in the last 4 games, French has more try’s in our last 60 minutes then the whole side got in our last 7 games of 2021 and so on.

It’s a Superleague record so it’s a good while ago.

It is painful to think how many he could have got too, 23 mins left on the clock when he got hooked. First started to walk off looking like he really didn't want to and people started booing so he turned back around then got hooked anyway 10 seconds later to a standing ovation.

With the chances we continued to make down that right edge he would have been 10+ i am sure of it. And with french still on i think we would have pushed attack down the right even more aggressively anyway like we was doing for 5+

Really impressive stats from Mago and Smithies last night. Mago was 113m from 11 carries and Smithies was 136 from 17 & 34 tackles.

On the other side, more poor stats from Partington. Can't help but think that, if the Cooper rumours are true, last night was his farewell match.

I admire Peet's loyalty to certain lads and undoubtedly they deserved a first crack at cementing a spot. We're now in mid July tho and I've not seen anything from Partington, in his 14 games, to suggest he's a long term option. When does McDonnell get a proper run, or even Nesemba?
