Some rather disturbing comments from some fans on here. I wish him a speedy recovery.'"
Considering what he actually did - a cynical professional foul I was quite disturbed by the deafening boo's all around me in the East Stand as the poor lad was being stretchered off. This isnt Football and RL players only go off on stretchers when there really injured in my experience. Bad form.

What McGuire did was immensely irritating, but it's not like he viciously or severely fouled somebody. He's not that kind of player, and I hope he makes a full recovery.
Wigan have won many friends this year - as was exemplified by the decent words expressed by lots of rival fans when Roberts got hurt. But some of these reactions are going to cost us.
Let's get some perspective. It's only a game.'"

Great post Cruncher.
Wish Danny a speedy and full recovery, hate to see any player get injured regardless of how it occurred.
As you said, it's only a game and we're all RL fans.
Some of the stuff in the past 24 hours, from both our own, and from other clubs fans has made me seriously question if I want to keep reading and posting on this board.

And most do mate if you read the thread and see the many who wish him a full recovery. Please don't be like some of the other oppo fans that just read what they want to read and selectively respond, i've always thought you were a classy poster on here.

| Agreed. Without trawling through all the $hite of the last 24hrs, how many Wigan posters actually commented about wishing him injury? I know of two on here (who after having thought about it apologised), two other comments were links to Twitter and nothing to do with RLFANS as far as I could see.
Now compare that to what 100+ regular Wigan posters on here?
Doesn't make it right, but hardly the majority.

Well said Matty, would be nice to get some credit rather than just be vilified for a small number of ill chosen posts.

| Glad to hear most Wigan fans not being glad an opponent got hurt. I'd like to think Leeds fans are targeting some of the individual comments rather than Wigan fans as a whole. One thing's for sure - had the roles been reversed and it had been Tomkins at Headingley, you would have sadly seen a few Leeds fans revelling in an injury on these boards.
It seems to me that every club has a fair few idiots who delight in talking about 'hating' players (see the numerous ridiculous threads about Ryan Bailey as an example but there are sadly many others) and hoping to see them get beaten up/injured on the field. Its about time all that sort of talk was cooled off IMO. I especially have no time for the 'I never hope to see anyone get injured BUT....' brigade.
Anyway, its unfortunate that this incident has thrown the spotlight on Wigan fans specifically - as ever there are plenty of people happy to tar you all with the same brush. Well done those Wigan fans speaking sense, and also well done to those who have apologised for comments they regretted - unlike some people I can accept that sometimes the heat of the moment isn't the best time to log on to these boards, and apologising even in print isn't easy sometimes.

| Quote: AncientAndLoyal "He cheated, paid the price. He doesn't cheat, he doesnt get injured simple as. No sympathy for me.
As for Mclennan, he was a disgrace after the full time whistle last night. I understand it was an awesome game full of action and emotion, but to claim it was an "off the ball incident" after the tackle is ludicrous based on what I've seen, and the least he should have done is talk to Danny before coming out with that kind of remark. Im pretty sure in football that kind of thing would be classed as "bringing the game into disrepute" and in the past coaches have had bans etc for such things.'"
So when sam tomkins cheats again next week(which has happened on numerous occasions this year) by clamping the defenders arm under his body to gain a penalty ,and then gets all his ratfaced teeth knocked out as a result ,that would be justice would it??
