| Quote: CobraCraig "I thought the move was a necessity to bring someone else in (Dufty was mentioned)? If you don’t have to get rid of him I can 100% see why he is blocking the move. Yes it’s a bit stubborn and if he’s going to keep Cooper out of the first team it’s a bit of a slap in the face for a long time servant but Cooper coming could give Wigan a boost that could potentially push us to Grand Final glory for one of Warringtons rivals.
On a side note I am still shocked that Warrington fans are backing Powell as much as they are, I keep hearing he’s changing culture, this isn’t his squad etc but for me he’s brought in a lot of his own signings and has a strong squad to work with and whatever he’s changing seems to be having a negative affect on the squad as they’re going backwards. IMO Peet took over a team in a worse state but there is no way I would be happy if we where in Warringtons current position and I would want a change.'"
Powell is being allowed to absolutely rip the place apart and that is both admirable and very risky at the same time. I look at Wire at the minute and they have some outstanding youngsters in Wrench, Thewlis, Nicholson etc and their academy is looking very strong and they have loads getting selected for rep games. Is Powell the man to manage that and make use of it? I’m not sure he is.
I hope they bounce back quickly because the game needs as many strong teams as possible.

The thing is Warrington didn’t look like they needed ripping apart to me and the players he’s brought in have hardly set the world alight and yes you can say that Rome wasn’t built in a day but he’s taken them massively backwards, I really don’t get why people are saying they have to go backwards to go forward and saying judge him when it’s his own side. I counted 8 players in yesterdays squad (could be wrong) that he has brought in so that’s a fair percentage and no coach can expect to be working with 17 players he’s personally brought in.

| A great coach can make an average team play to a good-great standard consistently.
A poor coach can destroy a good team in no time. Let's not forget most were predicting Wire as top 2-3 preseason.

| Sounds like it’ll probably happen and that’s great news for us for this season. We’re going to need to be at the very very top of our game in the middle of the field to stand a chance against Saints in a play off or final and he will really help.
Guess he’ll probably get a game at Leeds on Thursday.

Cooper in for the rest of the year would be a big plus for Wigan. Hopoate out for the season now apparently which also narrows the gap.

What’s up with him? Heard he went off but didn’t see the game. He was excellent in the Magic game, so it certainly weakens you and cuts your options.

Supposedly passed his head assessment vs Huddersfield but a shoulder injury stopped him returning. Now the rumour is that the shoulder injury has him done for the season. I’m not sure I believe it personally as there is a portion of Saints fans who have decided he is the new scapegoat and have been putting out rumours of his demise at the club ever since. Time will tell of course, and if it is true it’s a blow.
One thing I would say though is Friday was a good reminder of just how good Welsby is at fullback, and he gets in better positions then when he’s at fullback. It was interesting that Woolf preferred moving Roby into the halves than moving Bennison off the wing, so it may be his preferred choice moving forwards.

| What a boost with 8 games left. The guy consistently gets 100m a game and started for England in the mid season game.
Cooper
Byrne
Ellis
Mago
Havard
Singleton
Partington
When was the last time our prop situation was this good ?
Cooper signing along with Mago’s massive improvement recently could be a game changer.

| Great to have him for the last few games.
Has anyone seen the video online of Daryl Powell's first meeting with the squad? The fact it was released is bizarre but Powell's talk was bloody awful. Uninspiring, dull, condescending - could completely understand players feeling disillusioned if that's the guy they have to play for.

| A real boost for our chances this season. We need more ground around the middle, especially against Saints and he can hopefully provide that. As much as his Wigan career fizzled out, I remember the boost Frank Paul Nuaausala gave us in 2016 and hopefully Cooper can do the same. He made his debut away at Leeds as well funnily enough (that pretty much confirms our Grand Final 2022 win).
