| Never seen a great deal in Proctor to get me excited tbh. He’s got a haircut that stands out and you notice him because of it but after watching him numerous times for the Kiwis and in the NRL, I’m yet to have sat there and gone ‘wow, he’s one hell of a player’. He looks a reasonable second rower to me and certainly not a player I’d throw big money at.

| Quote: 100% Warrior "Have been told from a pretty reliable source that Saints are seriously worried about the return of SL without crowds and are facing going under if games are played behind closed doors. The same has to be said for the rest of SL and you can see why Saints wanted him out and wanted the transfer fee.'"
I must admit when I saw that L1 and L2 football clubs would rather end the season than play behind closed doors because it would cost them money to play without crowds, I shuddered at what that means for superleague. The game is clearly going to ride the furlough scheme for as long as possible and doesn’t look to have any concrete plans to come back yet. The £16m from the government won’t go far if even the big clubs need bailing out.

Has to be why SL are targeting crowds returning for October (IIRC?). Behind closed doors just isn’t feasible even with opening up new revenue streams such as streaming games online for £5/£10 for example. You simply aren’t going to get 8k (or whatever is each clubs average attendance) logging in to watch. A quarter of that if you’re lucky and half if it’s a touch of God.
It’s led by Government obviously but I can seriously see the season being ended should social distancing rules continue or curtailed upon resumption when there be a second spike, as is widely expected, in winter.

I agree. I watched the first half of GCT v Rabbitohs and a bit of the second half before work this morning and he just looked so out of place. A bang average over achiever IMHO.

What do league 1 and 2 clubs get from Sky? They’re barely on TV in comparison to Superleague.

| Rumblings down at the HJ that Wigan are in for Ben Currie. Hopefully a load of twoddle but after a horrific couple of years injury wise he has looked something akin to the Currie of old so far this season.

27588.gif "Games as big as a grand finals define individuals and clubs. Remember we are only renting these shirts, I had my time in Pat Richards shirt. Ellery and Faz had there time in Sean's, Hampo and Radders in Sam's. You have to make a mark in these shirts that's still there the day you hand it over to someone else. So be aware for 80 minutes you are not only playing but also writing history and creating a legacy. How many people get to actually write history, not many. A big stage demands big players, be inspired. You play for Wigan, now go do it. Good luck." - Martin Offiah, 2010.:27588.gif |

| I’ve heard from fairly reliable sources that we’re looking at Currie and to try and offload Greenwood. Also been told we’ve been talking to Brad Dwyer

| Dywer's contract is up at Leeds , but Rhinos want to keep him as he is begining to mature and has his best years ahead , i guess it will mainly come down to the contract .

| Looking likely we will bring in new players and Currie would be a good signing IMO. He was starting to show form before the season curtailed and would be a big upgrade on Greenwood.
Dwyer I’m not too sure about. He shows plenty of bottle and potential but seems to have brain farts and wonder off on his own. If he can contain that urge he’d be a far better player IMO. Could be worth a punt but one of them signings that literally could go either way.

He's a Wigan lad so that could be the difference in him signing for us or Leeds but like you I wouldn't know if it would be a good or bad thing

| Never thought much of Dwyer and always feel our hope would be that he’d do a Terry Newton and grow an extra leg playing for his hometown team. I’d take the signing as a 20 minute impact sub and see how we go. As for Currie I’d push for that. He’s still young and he has the potential to be a top international player.

From what I've heard you are nearer the mark mate. When it became clear that Thommo was more and more unlikely to play another game for Saints McManus had little bargaining power.

| Saints signed Joel Thompson, 31, from Manly, 2nd rower, don't really follow the NRL so no idea if he's a gud un or not.
