| Quote: post "He’s had 14 games, for me the problems run deeper than just playing a bit crap and losing a few games. Enough time has passed now to make a decision.
You quote Magiure, Holbrook and Price as examples of how inexperienced assistants go on to head coaches roles and achieve good starts and in doing so gave my argument creedence. All those did well, Lam isn’t, that’s a fact and that defeats your own argument.
Years in a job does mean experience but doesn’t mean it’s good experience or valuable experience. I could go and be assistant coach for Australia and put that on my CV and think I’m fantastic but it’s different when it’s your name in the coach’s job and it all rests on you, that’s the true test of a coaches ability, not whether he was a good assistant or even good player and judging him on that he’s failing.
Hardaker looks to be trying but not gelling with the team, is he an outcast? Same can be said with Bullock. Are there factions in the squad? If there are they need addressing by the coach.
We look like a team that is poorly coached, we lack any sort of organisation and direction on the field. What targets is he setting the players? How is he getting the players up for games? Is he coming up with great game plans but the players are incapable or unwilling to carry out the game plan? If so then he needs to deal with it. I understand his hands may be tied on some things and he’s only signed a 1 year deal and that won’t give him the respect a coach may get if they were in the job permanently, this is and always has been a job interview or trial to put his coaching in the shop window and he’s failing on the basics. Sorry but he needs to go.'"
Neither Holbrook or Price started well, they needed time to settle in before making progress. As for your Hardaker remark it shows you know very little about RL. He’s been by far our best and most consistent player this year. He’s always the one picked out for post match interviews on Wigan TV because he’s settling in as a leader. The way it’s going he’ll walk our player of the year. Bullock is right at home and has excelled everybody’s expectations. That doesn’t happen if you’re an outcast.
The players love Lammy and all support his philosophy. It won’t be long until there is a lot of egg on a lot of faces on here.

Who told you about the Wigan tv bit Bigred?
Where Lam can be defended is that he started with a squad particularly in the forwards not fit for purpose.
For me he wanted to play an attacking style of play before he knew what he had and what the players are capable of.
If you are proven right I'd be pleased but a bit surprised.
If he was a shoe in for a permanent role then you'd think he would have got the job now because if the issue is one of injuries rather than capabilities?

Shows how much you read my post. I rate Hardaker as a player, he’s great and one of our if not even our best player this season, so you’ve misinterpreted that. What I’m saying is he hasn’t gelled with the team.

If I misinterpreted you I apologise.
However, I disagree that he hasn’t gelled. We haven’t been fluent in attack but that’s not just him is it? He seems well at home and to me is clearly well thought of among the group. I’ve seen him away from training and playing with Lockers and also with Greenwood and they were having a real good laugh. They’re obviously good mates away from from their jobs
I also met him at the Wigan rugby memories sessions and he was great fun and came over as a bloke genuinely happy. It was great to see to be honest and it didn’t seem false or forced in any way.

He’s on more than Coronation Street mate! The leadership comment was directly from Lammy.

Nothing to worry about, pal. We'll win all the other games no problem... apparently.

Who said that? Certainly not me. We’ve got big problems and this thread is not about that. The thread started with are we happy that Wane went. Many of us are! Waney was fantastic for our club but he’d gone past his best before date. We needed a change and we got a change. Edwards played his part in our current situation as have injuries, the players and back room staff including Rads and the chairman. Our current situation does not sit solely with Adrian Lam and my point in this thread is that he should be given a FAIR crack at it.

| Quote: post "True. It probably says a lot about Wigan’s scouting and junior development, they’re only bringing through “pivots” with no nous rather than developing proper halfbacks.
I saw this last season with regards scholarships, they had their pick of 3 halfbacks. 1 was a very good organiser who would organise the team all game, 1 was a very good ball player and was a genius pass selector and the other was a quiet but well behaved lad, they signed the well behaved lad and binned the other two off.'"
Which Super League clubs did the other two lads end up at?

He's been given a fair crack - very nearly 50% of his contract and we look hapless, particularly in defence, which has been the cornerstone of the Wigan team for years. That is down to coaching.
To blame Lam's inadequacies on injuries is unfair, it's part and parcel of the game.
Were you happy to spend your money and get that performance in return last night?

We’ve conceded 1 try in the last 2 games. We nilled Catalan a few weeks back so we clearly know how to defend. Did we blame the 62-0 against Wakefield on Waney? No, we accepted that there were mitigating factors that led to it. We now need to do it consistently though.
Was I happy to spend my money last night? Absolutely I was. Just like I have for the last 40 years. Supporting a club is about ups and downs, not just ups and the ups feel a whole lot better after you’ve endured a few downs.

No idea, this has only happened last season/start of this so couldn’t say. Maybe in 5 years time yes.

If you're happy spending your money watching that dismal rubbish, you're puddled.
