| Change the player in the situation, would you have the same thoughts?
Gil Dudson, Rhodri Lloyd or James Greenwood for example?

| Quote: [Gareth] ""For Taylor to move to any club outside the top 4 would, imo, show a lack of ambition. Hull are nowhere near a team that can challenge for trophy's and dont seem to be doing anything to change that at the moment (although i do not your signings for next year). The only 'step-up' for him would be to go to the NRL (going to Leeds/Saints would be a sideways move)
He's also short a WCC medal which he would be very unlikely to get at Hull'"
So thats it then unless your Leeds or Wigan you should just give up trying. Short time ago Wigan were very close to dipping out of SL but turned it around. Some would say they did it by breaking every rule in the book however they did it by buying quality and overhauling there organisation. Was this lack of ambition or ambition.
You say it shows lack of ambition by Taylor yet you say Hull are doing nothing to compete. Isn't trying to sign Taylor a step forward and if he as a Hull supporter growing up shares the same ambitions to see Hull compete how is that a lack of ambition.
Fwiw I think he'll stay at Wigan although his family seem to be telling people its done. I hope he has signed and hope our chairman keeps plugging away until he gets it right.
Good luck for the rest of the season.

And some would say they didn't break any rules except those fantasy ones made up by the RFL on the spur of the moment. And do you know what, they'd be right.

You may well be right and I'm not judging however you cannot deny many accusations were pointed towards the clubs actions at that time. personally I admired the club for taking positive action and sorting it.

If every club was to show the same determined ambition to be winners, just think how good a game we would have. Trouble is, some are happy to sit on their arris and be victims....

Pick one from any side who voted for the academy changes that we have. What about those unwilling to bend on the cap.
I've seen your posts on a similar subject before and I remember you taking the stance hat as long as its voted for by the majority then it's fair. Along with something like the rich and ambitious clubs shouldn't hold more power or sway than the less fortunate. Am I correct?

Well, let's look at it this way. Do all clubs push boundaries like Wigan do, and have done? Of course clubs, ' do their best' and we are all valuable parts of the RL community. But, as is always true in a real world, some will try harder than others. I'm not going to name names, but if you think that all SL clubs contribute equally to this great game, fine.

Just over twelve months ago there was a meeting arranged (in Leeds IIRC) where all SL clubs management were invited along to discuss 'best practices' within their particular clubs and to bounce off different ideas off each other.
Basically in an attempt to improve the levels of each club, thus making the structure of the league that little bit stronger.
Kris Rads went along to represent Wigan and came back stating he learned a lot of innovative ideas that say Leeds & Warrington do both on and off the field. They in turn took ideas from us.
He then went on to state that only 50% of SL clubs could be bothered to send a management representative to the meeting.
The argument being IF the likes of Wigan & Leeds came away having taken something of value from the meeting then the absent teams would most certainly would have.
But they couldn't be bothered!

1. I agree about the Academy
2. Wigan themselves are quite happy with the cap
3. Voting by a majority is called democracy. If you'd prefer a rule by one man or woman then fair enough. I'm sure the Hetheringtons would oblige.
4. No club in Rugby League is rich.

1-not sure how anyone can be in favour of the current system.
2- so be it but why does that give us the right to restrict the Dr or Wire who want to try something different? If they want to trail blaze let them.
3-just because the majority of people decide on something does not make it right. The term used is the tyranny of the majority. 12 can vote with 10 people voting to persecute the two in the minority that neither makes that decision just or fair. Thats the current situation in RL seeing that the majority of clubs have little ambition, no regard for either the long term future of the game or paying the players a fair wage. They simply don't want to be left behind.
4- you should only judge your wealth in terms of the situation you find yourself in. Wigan are rich in an RL sense as they get decent crowd levels for RL, turn over a decent amount of players that other teams will and do pay money for and lastly have potential for growth. Are they football rich - no but they aren't existing in that world.

Determined ambition within your means. Unfortunately some clubs ambition way out weigh their means. But in principle I agree.

It's the principle i am referring to. We live in the real world, but we as a game, should be striving to improve, and not be dragged back by clubs with little ambition. I wish all clubs could have a Dr..
