Quote: FearTheVee "So I keep hearing, I don't hear much about the decisions that went against us at Cas though. Funny that.
Or the others that went against Cas and Huddersfield for that matter. But then none of those resulted in the match winning score, did they? icon_wink.gif The fact is, you were second best in both those games and, whichever way you dress it up, got way with the win you didn't really deserve. Let's just say you're hardly in a position to be crowing that you won games against teams we didn't!

Quote: Lingfield Warrior "You're mad. But that's fine. We'll see soon enough for sure.
The only time the 2 sides have played, and that was on your manor with your team having much greater motivation, we beat you. The good thing about your "vastly superior" point, is that by 2 on Friday we will know the truth of it.
Out of interest, how many titles/medals/cups can your "vastly superior" first 13 point to, compared with our "vastly inferior" one?
What interests me is that we have 4 years of evidence that Wigan are a very strong team, regardless of the squad changes in that period. That's no fluke - we're well caoched, perfectly conditioned, well motivated and with the right temperament. We have 4 of the same spine that won the double, and a full back in Bowen who is class from head to toe.
From Saints' perspective, Brown had to start fast, as otherwise he might have lost his job. No team can sustain that momentum forever, and all the signs indicate that Saints' form is dropping away. It served its purpose. Wigan are running a different race, and have repeatedly shown that when we have to step up a gear we can do so.'"

This is a new season ,last year counts for nothing.

Quote: Lingfield Warrior "I meant scraping past (which given the circumstances is putting it mildly) a Giants team who, aside from beating us when we'd already checked in for our flight to Sydney, are struggling to find any form, and then finding it a struggle to scrape past Cas last week end.
Please don't get me wrong, I am delighted that Saints fans are certain that it's all about Leeds and them, that they have the best back line in the league and that they are "vastly superior" to us. Just because I can't see any concrete evidence to cause me to doubt that Wigan will continue to do what we have spent the last 4 years doing, doesn't mean to say Saints fans shouldn't turn up expecting another 75-0. In some ways it would make a backs against the wall victory for the underdog against the odds victory for us even sweeter.
Is that the same castleford who beat you a few weeks ago??
For what its worth i dont think there will be much in it because its a derby but i do expect our forwards to win the battle upfront but i would of been more confident if amor was playing.

Saints 30 Wigan 14.

Not a huge amount to fear in the Wigan team. Of course anything can happen in a derby, it could be a punch up or one team sailing away with a 20 point lead.

But if it plays out without any random factors. I reckon we will not be far off that score.

Wigan have not been blowing teams away by any stretch and with Wane pointing out the Wigan backs that they are a lesser bunch of players than both Leeds and Saints, he's not brimming with his usual confidence either.

Maybe he was just stressing that to get his excuses in early too icon_wink.gif

If the ref spots the Saints dummy runners taking out the defenders Wigan should win, unfortunately for the Giants last week Bentham missed that tactic with the first Saints try, it made Hohaia look like a world class player

The use of dummy runners being called into question from a Wigan supporter, now I am speechless.

A Wigan win !

Especially just for my Dad, a schoolfriend of ex GB International and Wigan legend Martin Ryan, from many years ago.

My Dad used to watch Wigan since the 1920's.

Born down Miry Lane.

Unfortunately, he passed away last night aged 90.

He was a D-Day veteran.

RIP Dad !

God bless Fleabag's father.

Never a nice thing to go through... thoughts are with you and yours at this time...

Hope you can try to enjoy the game on Friday, regardless of the scoreline... Your old man will always be with you watching your team.

Fleabag sincere condolences. I lost my dad 11 years ago and it still hurts. It's at times like this that you realise that rugby is only a game.

God bless.

I’m very sorry for your sad loss FB, at 90 your Dad must have been a mine of wisdom and history. God bless him and you and yours mate. I’ll ask mi Dad and older brother who both passed when very young to show him round up there and find him great seat for the match, and a nice pint too.

God rest his soul. I lost my mum the Monday before the 2010 Good friday match - the last at KR. I watched the end of the match through tears. Raise a glass to him tomorrow.
