Did Wigan bring on their best players in the 2nd half? They were saying on the Ausy radio station there were 13 on the field and 13 on the bench for this match

Just a quote from the NZ Warriors forum, nice to see I think

| Sensational 2nd half from our youngsters Sam Powell was the star of the show and it was fantastic to see creativity throughout the team. I don't think ive seen Wigan play free flowing rugby like that for a while i hope this continues against the roosters as it will give us a great chance in attack against a huge defence. I don't think anybody had a bad game in that second half and i must agree with some comments before that Waney has got selection headaches now. There where some great individual performances Hampshire, Bateman, Burke, Powell all stood out for me and I must give a mention to Anthony Gelling I thought he really stepped up the attack when he came on with some powerful runs at centre. Im also in agreement with tony clubb it's far to early to be assessing him as a player after only 4 game sin a Wigan shirt but i think he needs to work on a few things to be included in the wcc, he started at loose and didn't really have an impact but once Burke came on at loose it was a game changer, 100% completion rate in the second half for Wigan after at least 30 minutes to New Zealands 20% that's got to please Waney.
All in all i think New Zealand where humbled today by a bunch of keen youngsters who have sent Waney heading off to the nearest paracetamol shop.

| Great looking result, congrats and good to hear the British youngsters put on a show second half.
What was the NZW team that started the game and how did they line up for that second half?

The commentary team said the majority of the NZW backs were youngsters with a few of the forwards as well, due to the Aukland 9s this weekend. It was a strange 1st half for the first 15 mins it seemed that Wigan would blow them away because as well as going 12 up in quick sticks they missed a couple of easy chances to score more.
Then Wigan just seemed to go to sleep, missing tackles and giving to many penalties away which allowed NZW to dominate the last 20 min of the half.
One thing Wigan will have to watch in Sydney is the man diving at the legs when a player seems to be held, they were penalised in the second half for it. It is such a grey area and so open to different interpretation that I cringe when I see it happen.
The second half though Wigan and especially the backs just dominated the match.

They played reserve backs (and Townsend who was woeful in defence) throughout, a few first team forwards got decent minutes (Matulino, Rapira and some time for Mateo etc). The second half was essentially reserves vs reserves.

exactly...hes a waste of space and talent at 9.
Get him in 6, drop Green ( needs a kick up the bum imo), and let Logan do whats hes being paid for.

Made my blood run cold, to be honest.
Even to good guys down there like Voss, the NRL is all that matters.
Encouraging them to pinch yet more of our exciting young players, even when done in an air of jest, worries me terribly.
With even the NRL apparent easy pickings for the endlessly cashed-up England RU (Sam Burgess reportedly offered four times his NRL salary!!!), we really do seem to be at the very bottom of the pecking order.

| I think we need to watch forwards offloading really closely when we play Sydney, this is a major area of attack for NRL clubs.
In a tight game a slip of the ball can be the basis of a fast break and try, NZW were playing well off the back of the offload which seemed to be weakness in our defence.
Roosters love to play and attack off the offload, they have amazing offloaders (not just SBW) and some extremely fast backs, Jennings etc.

| Quote: Madderzahatter "We need to sign their No.27 up - he looks an absolute beast!'" Albert Vete. Came to the attention of the coach last year as a 19 year old Junior.
Played a hand full of Reserve grade games after being promoted early from the Junior team.
Pleasing to see him go ok in his first game against First grade players.
There are a lot of Junior players in his class. The NRL Nines sees a bunch of the Junior backs on show with Tomkins and Johnson.....Lolohea and Fusitua are going to give the Australian backs who have never heard of them a rude awakening.
Watching the Wigan young players go around tonight you could almost make an unbeatable Jnr Team by combing our Jnrs with yours.

| Only seen the highlights so far, will watch the full game tonight but in my opinion Wane has a big decision to make regarding fullback.
Bowen has not yet got used to our systems, he will but his timing is just off enough for it to stunt our attack.
Hampshire looks like a fluid link man capable of breaking the line.
Whilst Bowen I have no doubt will be the fullback for most of the season, for this one off game at this stage of the year for mine Hampshire should start.
Bateman over Clubb is an easy pick for me, and the other headscratcher is Powell vs Green. Powell was ok against Giants but excellent today Green was shocking vs the Giants. I guess that will come down to how they are performing away from the pubic eye.
Whilst I appreciate it is tough on Bowen if we are looking to give ourselves the best chance of winning this game Hampshire needs to play.

Bit harsh on Green, who two games ago won MoM in the GF. So - one poor game and out you go? Surely he has earned the right to play against the Roosters.
