| Just about thawing out enough to type!
Thoughts-
Murphy looks a bag of fumbles at the back but is a threat in attack.
Thornley and Hughes looked like they'll provide a good battle for that centre spot this year. They're full of potential.
Green's use of the ball in tight situations was excellent and Smith had a really strong showing and was involved in a lot of Wigans good play.
Greg Burke looks a talent and needs some first team exposure this year.
We have some big bodies at prop and great depth in that position. I'm worried that some sort of science experiment has taken place on Crosby and Dudson though who's heads seemed to have been swapped to the others body. I thought Crosby looked too heavy tbh and was blowing hard.
Overall a decent run out although we only really played for 30 mins then it was all a bit sloppy.

Crosby needed a bit of weight imo

Both strike players in my opinion. If we could only clone a mixture with Gouldings passing ability. LLoyd also showed how to give his winger time and space from good passes.
O'Loughlin and Mickey Mac looked sharp early on, they are two players we need on the field for most of the season.
Greg Burke may be the "bolter" this year. I've been really impressed with him thus far, after a disappointing season (by his standards) last year.

[b:2q2mjndn]"What was it like out there Sam?"[/b:2q2mjndn]
"F*cking hard mate"
Queensland great Sam Backo live on telly to nine's Tim Sheridan after being named man of the match in a state of origin game in 1988.: |

| Not a bad result at all really it was bad conditions we still rested our primary threat in attack Sam T so considering that the result isnt bad at all. Nice try from thornley that will give him a confidence boost as he's not played too well in the last 2 games from what ive seen of him. Im still none the wiser as to who should replace carmont although one thing which we havent mentioned is that gelling came to Wigan as a centre but yet we never played him there instead we put him on the wing where he looked uncomfortable but no doubt he's has a better skill set than thornley and hughes so maybe we shoudl have been trialling him ther ein all of these friendlies rather than put him in the pack where argubley hes not quite reached the desirable size as of yet. I thought some of the young lads played well too last night Logan looked sharp and got stuck in as did Burke tackling every Bus that arrived again, ive never been Gil Dudsons biggest fan but he upped his game last night fair play to the lad and he could be useful for us this year if he gets his attitude right hes not the smallest of props thats for sure.

2572.jpg Ah, good taste!
What a dreadful thing!
Taste is the enemy of creativeness.

| I must say that Logan has impressed me so far in all 3 of the friendlies. His distribution is good, and he's made some good metres at the PTB.

Agree, I'm not his biggest fan, but his work rate has been very very good in all three games.
Dudson went o.k but let himself down with the shoulder charge that missed, leading up to Salfords last try.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

Logan gets a little stick from those who have seen lots of him, but he always seems to play solidly and passes well when i have seen him. Seems that the Tomkins name could be a bit of a millstone for him.
Let me emphasize the word "Little"

It's more than just his work rate. He's actually getting out of dummy half to better effect and approaching the line before passing. Often, when I've seem him in the under 20's, he'd almost always pass from the ground and if he tried to get out of dummy half he'd be tackled before he could cover any ground.
I'm both surprised and pleased at how he's done in the last two friendlies, although I always thought he had a much better chance of making it as a hooker than Carberry.
Overall I thought the team looked very good. The Everyone in the starting 13 did well, particularly Green, Goulding, O'Loughlin and Farrell in the first half.

Yes L Tomkins had a good game. Can't complain about his attacking play last night. I think where he trials Micky by some distance is defense. Micky can dump big props on their backside on his own so they don't want to get up whereas Logan hasn't got the strength for that.

| I know this isn't the norm for these boards but as I wasn't able to make the match thought I would ask an outsiders view. What did you think of the Salford team we put out? Granted it was about 50% of our babies from the u20's from last year, did any of them look ok against you guys? I have no doubt the gap will be far greater for the first game and you will walk it but am looking for some green shoots for our team. Hopefully our takeover happens but it would be nice to hear from you guys on our current status, no doubt the wooden spoon is looming but are we as bad as wakeys team during their year of bankruptcy? I think we have far better youngsters than they did and notice only 2 plastic Aussies in our team If our take over happens I can see it being a muted team due to the market restrictions, would love to loan Powell but not sure about Murphy. Good look for the new season and hope u guys go well, just go easy on us

Saw Logan a couple of months back, looked twice the size he was a year ago.
What he does lack is the fact Mickey Mac is a nutter...
