I am not withdrawing everything. Warrington have been a club that have generally been a small-average club at best throughout RL history. Until the move to your new falt pack Tesco stadium your average attendances were always amongst the worst in the league and have usually been in the bottom half of the league. Clubs that are now in the lower leagues such as Halifax even averaged more than you, when they were in the same league at the same time, and again a number of RL clubs have had as much if not more success than Warrington. Additionally Wilderspool was a dump and until the last couple of years Warrington had not won anything for years. For all these factors Warrington have never been considered a big club. I actually pity the glory hunting Warrington trolls that populate these boards who know so little about the clubs history.

Talking of your big derby game you should be concentrating on making sure you don't bottle it in the playoffs this year, to lose not once but twice to the Saints was pretty shocking when you had the double to play for.'"

| Quote: WARRIORCRAIG "icon_eek.gif I've seen everything now, a Wire fan, accusing another team of bottling it in the playoffs!!
There's a difference between losing a playoff game and bottling it. I know some Wigan fans on here regard Warrington as a big team but in reality Warrington are a medium sized or even small club, with no real pedigree of winning trophies so just to get to the playoffs is a huge achievement for a club of our size. To put us against a big team like Leeds who wins the Grand Final most years we are always going to be underdogs.
It's different for Wigan though as Wigan are the biggest club in rugby league and have been the most successful club of all time, when they are in playoff rugby there is no excuse not to win. You would not get sides with Shaun Edwards or Dean Bell in it losing their nerve when it came to playing a relatively weak Saints side in knock out rugby. And if they had lost once you could be sure they would come out and cream Saints the next time. The problem with Wigan last year is they came out fearing Saints the second time round and were never in the game, they let Saints boss them around, whilst all season Wigan had looked a stronger team. That is bottling it and its something Shaun Wane needs to get on top of this year if Wigan are to ever hope to return to their greatness of the past.

I diagreed with your description of Wire as '[ia rather small club with no real fanbase[/i' over its history which is a clear untruth. You then marked us up to the elevated heights of 'average', a sensible withdrawal of which you should be proud. Your own knowledge of RL history is clearly extremely limited, and now you're reduced to feeble insults about Wilderspool ( a very fine stadium indeed in its day, just like Central Park was in the 1950s ) and choosing 'falt pack' (sic) in reference to the HJ, a description that better fits Wigan's forwards. You're clearly not on here to seek enlightenment, however, so please stand with the other 'glory hunters' as you describe them - you'll find that you fit right in.

| I just don't get this obsession with calling a club 'big'. Sport is cyclic, RL especially so, and some fans find it hard to give credit to another club. Wigan were nearly relegated 6 years ago, Saints and Leeds have fought over the Grand Finals and Challenge Cups, Wire won two Challenge Cups recently. All clubs have history, some more than others, but that isn't necessarily any indicator of what will happen in the future, or how 'big' a club is.

It's worse in football. A lad I flatshared with at uni supported Forest and he never shut up about how they were a bigger club than Arsenal because they'd won the European Cup.

This is quite true, and a couple of successes are often just a blip in a mediocre existence.

Wilderspool Tuesday Night..........
Look at the lovely lush turf better than your footy ground.....
Central Park Tuesday night
wow Ariel Liqui tabs a fiver.......
shame you didnt experience Central park otherwise you would have realised it too was a dump as was every other Rugby ground that I visited from 1979 onwards. Don Valley stadium in 1991 being the first decent ground.

central park wasnt in that bad a state, you can go to wakey, cas, bradford, HKR, and Leeds now and central park was in a better state than them all. You obviously havent seen the pitch at the DW for a while if you think it isnt in a very good state. You would still be at Wilderspool if it wasnt for Tesco and the ariel liquatabs so I would keep that one under your hat flower.
