| Gouging is the lowest of the low. Far far worse than biting, and anyone who has played the game will tell you that. You've got biting (which is just cowardly) and gouging which isnt just an action to hurt a player but also to inflict a permanent injury for life. He should get a very long ban and so should ANY player,no matter what team they play for.
The big problem here is that we are seeing for the last 2 years a really good Wigan side under a very good coach and if they're not careful all they will end with is the tag of being a dirty side who try to injure/maim players. The RFL must show some bottle and give him a long ban. We've already had the digusting act at Wembley by Sam and now this. Wigan are far too good to do these sorts of things and it would be a shame if this teams legacy is not remembered(by other fans) for the rugby they play.
I was interested in Tony Smiths words in boots n all this week when talking about Sam,this weekends game etc.."IF YOU ARE WANTING A COACH WHO WILL WIN AT ANY COST THEN YOU'RE LOOKING AT THE WRONG BLOKE"..I think thats the difference between Smith and Maguire..Not that Maguire has told Hock or Sam to do these specific things but when you bring in these wrestling tactics,3rd man in aiming at knees, coupled with this seige mentality that seems to exist at Wigan you are asking for trouble..Just my opinion and I'm sure to be shot down on here but its a shame the way its going for Wigan...And remember it wasnt the rhinos fans there today who were booing and chanting against Sam.

The eye gouging is bad and he should get a lengthy ban for it. Can't quite see hair pulling on the same level. Gouging can damage sight. Hair pulling doesn't carry the same risks and makes whoever does it look a bit pathetic, but big crabtree has put up with hair pulling for years

To try to pin what Hock did on Maguire or compare to anything Sam Tomkins has done is idiocy. What Hock did has nothing to do with tackling techniques or anything else. It's just an idiot being an idiot. He's been like that all his career so was Madge to blame for what he did wrong before he joined Wigan? Of course not.

| The day we should give a **** about what our 'legacy' is to others should be the day we pack in supporting Wigan. I saw a bunch of tired players today getting niggly and frustrated at being dominated which means you make poor decisions. People forget that Hudds were doing this before us but they aren't remembered because they win naff all.

Hair pulling isn't as bad, but just as cheap and cowardly. Crabtree, King or any other mop ed shouldn't have to put up with it!

I think the ban could quite well make it into double figures. Not sure it will be as long as this but the rfl definitely need to make sure gouging is punished with the strongest bans possible

Spot on mate - the holier than none sense that seems to have crept into rugby league from some supporters is embarrassing - being precious and thinking your superior was always something I associated with football fans not rugby league fans.

Surley you cant condone todays actions, Sams 2 fingers at Wembley or 3rd man in tackles purposely to injure players!!!!!!!!!....Like I put down earlier..IF you're into this Win at all costs attitude ..then I feel sorry for you.

| My take on it, and I'm probably in the minority here:
Did he make contact with Harrisons face? Yes
Was it foul play? Yes
If he had made contact with say Harrisons shoulder and held him down in the way he was trying to do, would he have been penalised for that offence? Yes.
Was it an intentional or premeditated gouge? No.
Is there a huge over reaction on this thread and a band wagon to be jumped on? Yes
