| Quote: truewiganer "how is it a stupid comment?
explain ur "stupid comment" to me,
i thought the brigantes where all about creating atmosphere where ever and when ever there is a game on,
yesterday would have been a great time to show what you lot are about, not just when its a sl team.
i bet ur all there against bradford.
taht long after the night is done song at the end of a game, anyone outside the ground would think we have lost listening to that down beat song. its not got a happy sound to it.
but looks like again an opinion is getting ridiculed because it does not fit with your own opinion.'"
Saying true fans go to every game no matter who the opponent. That is a stupid comment. I'm a better Wigan fan than you because I go to every game home and away is a pathetic argument.

| the song might be apt lyrically and be part of the history of the town, and im not arguing that fact with you,
i just think its a tad depressing when we have won.
need something a bit more upbeat and happy for winning.

I bet Ash regrets coming out with that statement on here but to be fair to the lad, Wigan took about 100 fans to Barrow (ironically enough) for a pre-season friendly earlier this year and he was one of em'.
He's a good lad, top supporter home & away.

Please come down to the next meeting. All constructive criticism is welcomed, and any new ideas or help will be greatly appreciated.
I'm sure a date for the next meeting will be announced on here.

I'd echo that. Went along to the last meeting having only briefly met jukesays and didn't know anyone else there, was made to feel very welcome and they're a nice bunch of guys! If people have ideas/opinions/suggestions why not come along and voice them, have a drink and a chat about rugby. Just don't wear a latics shirt or eat all the cheese butties

| Quote: Jimmy Birts Lives On "Hang on a minute, people were there, just a set of circumstances that meant the flags weren’t. If people have bereavements or other crisis over the weekend and they hold the flags then not a lot can be done about it. One of those things. As for the atmosphere, I think that’s almost a lost cause at home be it Barrow or Wire. 10 or 15 lads with season tickets in different parts of the ground are not going to be able to make much difference at home. Now away, that’s a different matter.'"
Chris
Sorry to hear about your loss. Hope everythings ok and I'll arrange to pick the flags up later this week ready for Quins game.
As for those who are having a bit of a pop, I suggest you know the facts first? As Chris says, a few circumstances conspired to make it impossible to get the flags erected this weekend. The club were informed as early as Friday morning but it was impossible to get around the probklems.
As Rogues & Dave26 alluded to, if we had a few more volunteers, contributors and people attending the meeting it would make it easier as we would have bit for flexibility when planning.
Long after Tonight is all over!
And if you think that's a bit old fashioned Just wait till the Next "Retro" move by the club!

I would probably say personally, if people would like to get "involved" so to speak that attending a meeting may be pointless now as we have a full gantry and dont really need flag ideas, designs etc, your probably better off looking for the noisy section at an away game, introducing yourself and grabbing a flag/banner. Its moved on to what the real ultra scene is all about now, and thats a large group, mainly at away games (home games lads are sat in diferent stands) making an atmosphere using the big wavers, new songs and being noisy. Most of these people that are now involved away from home, I dont think even post on here. Its more than just making flags and waving them at home games, this "ultras scene" is to have a large group following that stand together, wave flags, banners etc you have to back it up with an atmosphere and a following, which now seems to have developed away from home and is attracting more people every week, I know Chris has had messages from various football clubs and fans praising our away support and displays.

Chris, hope everything is o.k.
JS don't be giving snippets out like that, you'll be getting accused of being immature

It's not a song I'm keen on, TBH, (can't be doing with all this modern stuff...) but I have to admit lots of people get up and start dancing to it, which they don't with any of the other songs that have been played. I'm happy to go with majority opinion, which seems to be very much in favour.

It wouldn't sound like we had lost if everyone stood and was singing the chorus!

Dusty Springfield sang it in 1965.
Your dad will love that year.
Wigan v Hunslet another classic Challenge Cup Final.
