39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

Aye I would love for us to sign Widdop. Finch could be going back to aus so Widdop would be ideal IMO.

I watched the Storm v Pathers game and Storm v NZ Warriors recently, I was very impressed with Widdop, My choice for 6 for England.
You can see Madge molding Sam into an almost Slater/Hayne attacking FB, at times we even run the same plays as Storm.
Obviously you know I was all for trying Sam at FB, I feel it's worked, at times he can come up into the line and act as a 1st or second receiver from that position. However, it was it was my choice we'd bring in a top FB and move Sam to 6 as a true second receiver, give him practically a free role in attack.

| Unless hes got a real desire to move back to England, after his form in the first few rounds of the NRL I cant see Widdop going anywhere tbh.

Agreed, I think his close family are also over there. It'll be his home.

| Yesterday, Wakefield and their fans were treated to a master-class by Sam. Yes, he can be greedy and selfish, but thats often found in legends of whatever sport you see. TBH dont really care where he plays, as long as he's in a Wigan shirt. Replacing Lockers as the boo boy of opposition fans is a mark of the fear other supporters have of him, and justifiably so.

Not meaning to stir, but that simply isn't true.
There are stacks of talented players in SL who don't get the stick Tomkins gets. He gets stick because of how he behaves on the pitch, not because he's a class act. Nobody was booing and abusing Danny McGuire when he was ripping it up for Leeds, or Pat Richards on his way to man of steel, or James Roby for Saints recently, or Vainakolo or Sam Burgess for Bulls, or Rangi Chase for Cas etc etc.
He gets stick because he has more than a slight tendency to cheat. I know you'd rather it was purely because he's a class act, but I'm afraid it just isn't.
FWIW I think he's an absolutely tremendous player by the way.

Running past all those Saints players and running further than any other player in the game. It shouldn't be allowed, Jon Wilkin, John Kear and Garry Heatherington will be furious.

He doesn't cheat tho?
Stupid argument on your part really as Sam is CONSTANTLY being hit with cheap shots, high tackles and sly knees. No other fans ever mention this however?
Sam maybe a lot of things but he's not a dirty player.

| Since Ablett's hit on Sam last year and a ref that allowed the Leeds man to stay on the field it has been open season for every team and their cheap shot merchants to try and take his head off. Hull FC and Willie Manu were best of the lot!
If Sam tries to gain an advantage so be it. All teams and players do it!
Leeds have three men in the tackle then the ball drops to the floor, the ref gives a knock on when tv pictures always without fail show it was reefed.
Wire do it by having a man on the shoulder of the ball carrying player preventing would be tacklers from bringing him to ground.
Saints party trick is having a hand in at the ptb. Ball goes to ground and a knock on given when again tv pictures show the ptb was interfered with.
Of course to opposition fans he cheats and no other player cheats, ever, especially from their own team.
The other mattter is that opposition fans wish he was their player!

| Absolute class yesterday. Any supporter who says they wouldn't have him in their team is either a complete moron or just a plain and simple liar. Best individual display I've seen at belle vue for quite some time.

| Every player in the league cheats/bends the rules whenever they think they can get away with it. Sam tomkins gets highlighted because he plays for a club that most people hate for one reason or another. Sam has not done anything that we havent seen before. People try snapping his head off but people make out that him clamping arms etc is a bigger crime!! Get real
All the people slagging him seem to like it when players are dishing it out to Sam but when Sam takes revenge they start crying!

| He is a bugger for the arm clamp! Everyone in the ground can see it barring the refs! No point trying to take his head off he either makes you look silly by evading the shot or by getting up from it and not shirking a thing. Tough as well as good the complete player. Only player we had who could tackle him yesterday was murphy who seemed to wrap him up ball n all every time he got near him. 13 more like him and we might have held you to nil nil as to be honest your defense was phenomenal and we never really looked like scoring

| I'll say what I always say about Sam and thats that he takes far far more then he dishes out and fair play to the lad for keeping as cool as he does at times. We see him being targetted week in week out and he gets little to no protection from the referees so if he loses his rag now and again or tries to con the odd penalty back for the ones he should be getting when teams take his head off then so be it.
The first time we touched the ball at HKR last week made me chuckle. It was a long punt down field and Sam took the ball in and was met by a couple of KR defenders. I think one of them was Ben Galea who decided to scrag him to the floor and throw his forearm into his face and then push his head into the ground and what does the ref do? Sod all as per usual.
