| Quote: Cruncher "You can't just ignore Eastmond's injury record; at present, that blows away any notion that he's a guaranteed England 6 for the next decade. For a youngster, he's on the treatment bench with alarming regularity. Sure, he may just have been astonishingly unlucky, but quite often this sort of thing means that either his body's not up to the game or his head isn't. In any case, in the few times when Amos fired last season, he looked 20 times more deadly than I've ever seen Eastmond (though admittedly I've only seen Eastmond's TV games).'"
Sean Long had plenty of injuries when he was a youngster, but he turned out alright. Problem is, for every Long there's a Sculthorpe - hopefully Eastmond will get through this. If he does, he's the best 7 in the country (and he is a 7, no matter what anyone says).
There is a lot of talk of Royce simmons trimming down the squad and concetrating more on speed, whereas Potter preferred the [ibig is beautiful[/i approach. Hopefully that will see us suffer fewer injuries like when Anderson was in charge (the last time we looked lean). Certainly the young bulky builds of Wheeler, Lomax and Eastmond seem to suffer a lot more injuries than the stringy bodies of Foster and your Tomkins.

| Not this 'luxury players' b*llox again
Anyway, Eastmond, yes I would bid for him, should he be interested. Would we get him? Probably not, therefore I reckon there's little or no point in it.

At Kyle's age Deacon hadn't won a bean fella, the only difference is that Eastmond was England's first choice 7 at the age of 20 whereas Deacon, well, wasn't.
Anybody who doesn't think Kyle Eastmond would improve Wigan is a nutter, but each to their own.

| Wigan would improve Kyle Eastmond and he would improve Wigan. We all know that!
No one doubts his ability it's just his fitness which is a worry at the moment.
Hopefully he will recover from this spate of injuries and fulfil his potential.

Graham 2011
Roby 2011
Eastmond 2011
I would like to get eastmond and get rid of ryan hoffman and amos roberts as they are luxury players and we dont really need them if you look at the current squad numbers. Which player would you bid for and how much even thou they only have a year left on there contracts.'"
comin from a warrington fan amos roberts is a man that knowone likes to play against i no that when we played you we hated the sigh of roberts on the ball looking confident

But plenty of very fair concerns have also been voiced about his abysmal injury record.
Anyone who ignored that, given what Eastmond would cost, is also a nutter.
He'd have to pass a very rigorous medical first. But if he did, I'd welcome him.

Sensible veiw, given last year.
I've voiced my concerns that the fact Eastmond, Wheeler and Lomax have all had such diabolical injuries records through 2010 points to something other than just bad luck, and more inherant in the conditioning of the players.
I really hope for Saints, that he can put his injuries behind him. For me he is an absolutely outstanding talent with the all round ability to be really top class.

He was superb at the start of the season, odds on for YPOTY and possibly MOS. He was also outshining Sam who had a much quieter start to the season but picked up towards the middle and back end.

Indeed. Saints fans are keeping their fingers, toes, and everything else crossed that we don't lose this talent because of injury.

I'm intrigued to know whether it was Saints training methods under Potter (that so many fans think was the cause) is the case. Or Kyle physically/genetically his body in particular his joints aren't capable of withstanding the pressures placed upon them.
His careers no where near over, but another year in 2011 similar to this one just gone and the writing maybe on the wall for Eastmond.

| Yes, definitely I would put a bid in for Eastmond. The thought of him and Sam playing week in week out together is frightening.

'" We had a bad run of injuries last season accross the squad, but especially with Eastmond, Wheeler and Lomax - 3 young backs who are of chunky build who look like they could lend themselves to putting on weight.
The squad last year generally looked overweight - KC was always a good yardstick for this. In 2006/2007 (under D Anderson) he looked rather trim, as did the rest of the squad. We also seemed to avoid injuries well in this period.
During the Potter era, since the departure of Apollo Perelini and certainly last year, a lot of the players looked to be carrying a bit too much jelly and we've had a poor run with injuries. Rumours persist that this was Potter's plan, to concentrate on bulk rather than speed and fitness.
I would say there's a decent possibility that his conditioning is as much to blame as his natural make up. I certainly hope the new regeime sorts it out because I think the three youngsters mentioned could make a massive difference for saints in terms of attack this year if they're fit.
