from twitter:

VerySuperLeague: It seems Senior's place in the dream team was most controversial. Maybe we can get him to sell it to another player via eBay. #rugbyleague !

I'd have Sam at FB and HB. He's been the best player this season in both positions! imagine that for controversial.

Pretty sure Lima won't be counted on the quota as he is from Maori/Polynesian descent which under the Kolpak ruling means he can work in the UK.

Think our overseas will be Phelps, Roberts, Finch and Hoffman. Leuluai and Carmont fall under the same ruling at Lima. Richards is deemed as Irish due to his parents.

I thought there was talk of Roberts having an Italian passport when he signed, might just be a figment of my imagination?!

Regarding the implications of Dreamteam on the MOS, don't think it will be whittled down to 3 from the 13, I'm having deja vu; a Wigan player is clearly the most deserving but KC is clearly going to win it - Martin Sadler has added to the bandwagon in the Express! eusa_think.gif

It'd be fantastic if the three were Pat, Sam and Lockers!

I must be the sole one who rates Ryan Hall. I think he is a cracking player and his place in the Super League Dream Team is justified from his performances this season. Although Darrell Goulding and Chris Riley must have been within a shout.

Keith Senior is a shocking choice - who decides this? Chris Bridge or Ryan Atkins would have got in for me.

The rest I agree with. I think it speaks volumes about the lack of quality fullbacks in Super League with Paul Wellens named in the Dream Team. Even some of the Saints fans are unsure whether they would resign him for next season!

Happy day. Got Lockers at 12/1 and Joel at 8/1 to make the dream team pre-season. Also had Gleeson - due to the scarcity of talent in the centres.

It's voted for by the players and Cunningham hasn't won it.

I think it depends on what nationality Lima has declared on his passport. Pat has a dual Australian/Irish passport which ensures he doesn't count on the quota. Carmont is officially Samoan so isn't on the quota and Tommy is classed as home-trained because he's been over here since before the quota rules came into effect.

For the record I have no idea what nationality Jeff Lima has on his passport icon_stupid.gif

Doesn't matter whether it is New Zealand or Samoan, he would still be of Maori/Polynesian decent. Only white New Zealanders are classed as quota.

Why not? Dream team isn't voted for by the players so I'm not sure why it has any relevance.

The dream team is made up of players who the press think have been the best in those positions all season.
The MOS is for the player who has been the most effective in helping his team throughout the year.

wasn't this a furore last year, that the dream team was announced and then the 3 nominees came out for mos, moz, hodgy and i think it was graham, though i can't imagine him not being in the dream team last year.

Everyone was asking the same question, how can he be nominated when he's not in the team of the year.

Anyroad, don't worry about it, its ben westwood.

All New zealanders are on the quota. Samoan or Tongan or Cook Island (etc) passport-holders aren't. It's on the passport, not the ethnicity. Maori do not come under Kolpak because they are New Zealanders not citizens of Pacific Island nations.
