| I can actually see another Mark Carroll situation, athough I think taking down Mason would be a bigger task.
Nice to see big names in SL, though.

| Great signing. Will put bums on seats and guarantee column inches, which is what we all want.

Correct. I've always said I wouldn't want him at Wigan due to his destructive influence but I'll admit to being a little jealous if he settles well at HKR and plays to his potential. Could make for some fiery confrontations in the Hull derby.

| I think it's great that such a controversial character with a good past record is coming to SL.

| If ever someone is coming over for the $ it is him but will be an interesting addition to their squad for all that - be interesting to see how he feels when he is freezing his nuts off in the icy chills of Craven Park in February!

Agreed.
Will add a little bit of extra spice to the league.

| Personally I would have loved to sign him at Wigan I still think he will do the business and will be a real boost to Hull KR.
I get the whole disruptive influence thing, but I do sometimes think it goes a little OTT. I get he has his baggage but so do many of the top players and he has kept his nose clean for a while now it seems.
Thankfully we have signed some real quality in Lima and Hoffman, but had we not been making these top notch signings I would have been gutted had we not signed Mason.
I will certainly make an effort to get to a few KR games next year to see him play.

Mark O'Meley said the same. Hardly noticed him to be honest.

| Back to Mason, to have him playing in this league is a massive achievement for the SL.
He will add something special to our pack next season, he will put bums on seats, and will increase the reputation of our club.
Off the field it is a good signing, but on the field, he is still a massive and powerful guy, and is a great signing. If he was playing for your lot you would say the same.

I said it before and ill say it again, its a risk worth taking for a mid-table side (no offense meant by that, but the likes of yourself, FC, Hudds etc etc are unlikely to be regulars in the top 4) and therefore it is a risk worth taking as he could have enough of an impact to propel you into the top 4. However it wouldn't be worth it for us, Sts, wire or Leeds as we are likely to be up there regardless due to the nature of the clubs, and therefore we don't need to risk the disruption behind the scenes which could derail a season.

I agree he'll put bums on seats. The same type of people who go to watch motor-racing in the hope of seeing a crash.
Pretty much everyone on here, when it was rumoured he was coming to SL but hadn't signed with anyone, said we didn't want him.

Indeed, I stand by what I said when we were talking about him months and months ago - I wouldn't touch him with somebody elses barge pole, let alone my own, he's a flamin' gala!
I'm very happy to be proved wrong, because on his day he's an entertaining player to watch - I just feel those days have been few and far between since his injury. Admitidly he's seemingly been less disruptive at the Cowboys, possibly Townsville offering him less distractions than Sydney

| Quote: thepriestman85 "Mason is a huge signing for Hull KR and SL IMO.
I really can't wait for next season to see Mason go up against players like Fielden, Graham, Morley, Peacock etc. He's gonna run his mouth, but IMO he can back it up and I'll certainly be tuning in 2 see him play.
Personality is something that is lacking in SL at the moment and Mason has it in abundance.
Very good signing for Hull KR as it proves they can now attract the biggest names. Hopefully this is the first step 2 Hull KR fullfilling thier massive potential.'"
Neither can he, judging by this quote today in the Hull Daily Mail...
Quote: thepriestman85 ""Coming to Super League will bring a few new opponents for me, and a few old ones too", Mason said. "I'm looking forward to playing against Stuart Fielden and I'm sure there will be fireworks. I haven't spoken to him much since that incident. I tried to shake his hand afterwards but he just walked past me. I'm also looking forward to playing against Mark O'Meley and Craig Fitzgibbon when we play Hull FC."'"

| Whichever way you look at it, it's definitely a case of a big name coming to SL and on that score, a good thing. There seems to be atrickle of top players starting to go the other way, with both Graham and now Hock, rumoured to be targets for sides in Aus. Any 'box office' coming to the UK can only be a good thing.
As for the player himself, it could be an excellent move for KR as they do need to keep the momentum forward that they have made in the last couple of seasons and signings like this (as long as it's not a one off) could further propel them towards the top. They are a great club with good ambition, fans and attitude and I, for one, hope any possible negatives off the field are outweighed by the undoubted positives he could bring on it. Like all these types of signing, time will tell!
