| Quote: DaveO "No we don't and I don't thing we either need one or have one. Sometimes it's not coincidence several people don't rate a player just as it isn't when most people think a player is brilliant. Why when it's the former does this equate to making a player a scape goat?
If people were blaming Pryce for the loss then perhaps the scape goat tag might apply but all I can see are comments that in general indicate he isn't good enough to play for us which isn't the same thing as being a scape goat. Some disagree about him being good enough but we don't seem to able to say a player is not good enough without the scape goat claim being brought up. Even some of the negative comments get couched in platitudes as if the poster is treading on eggshells in case they are deemed to over stepped the mark.
I honestly do not think Pryce is good enough for a place next season but that does not equate to him being a scape goat. He's only played 7 games for us this season so he'd be going some if he was getting the blame for anything.
Dave'"
You're missing my point. I never mentioned the word scapegoat nor was that what i was illuding to. This year, pretty much everytime he has played there has been a thread about why he shouldn't be playing for wigan. Same last year about Roberts and Mathers, same about Richards in his first year.

Romain Navarrete: “I’m very happy to have signed for Wigan Warriors. As soon I knew that Wigan were interested, they were the only team that I wanted to sign for. To me, Wigan is the biggest Club in Rugby League and it will be an honour to pull on the famous Cherry-and-White jersey next year. I look forward to working with Shaun Wane and the players at Wigan.”:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10172.jpg |

| KP did not lose us that game. Maybe he could have done better when Robinson took his try, but that's also like blaming the keeper when the other 10 wendyballers allowed a striker through on goal.
IMO Pat came inside twice to allow Hudds to attack down our left, because Joel was in the centre position.
We don't like to blame injuries for our defeats, but having Marsh (on loan at a poor Div 1 team, playing out of his favoured position) and JT at left centre because DG, GC and MG are all out, must have contributed to a lack of confidence or communication out wide.

| I think we are being a bit over critical here. Pryce didnt have his best game ive seen this season but he wasnt exactly shocking. Theres no need to look for reasons for losing or a scapegoat because we just bombed it as a team full stop imo. If we played the same 80 mins out again tomorrow we would win at a canter imo. Lets just be greatful weve got breathing space and time to sort ourselves out for the playoffs.
I wouldnt mind taking Mason and his bitches to the cleaners in the playoffs though

| In regards to the last three posts, I can't any posts in this thread that suggests he was shocking, to blame for the loss or being used a scapegoat.
The point of the thread is how he performed on Sunday in general and his future at Wigan.

| I quite enjoy reading the Karl Pryce threads because almost all of them have been interesting with people having quite different views on him.
No matter what you think about Pryce i find it really refreshing that he has at the very least been given a chance by Maguire even when a lot of supporters had all but given up on him.
I can't help but feel that the player will feel grateful that he has been given opportunities to prove himself at Wigan whilst also putting himself in the shop window should another club be interested in offering him a contract should Wigan not wish to keep him.
As for his long term future, i would not be unhappy if he was retained based on his performances this season.

| Is it just me or does anyone else think KP tends to go out of the game in the last 20 mins, may be its fitness maybe short concentration span, but it happens every time he plays

He's still definitely not fit, that's for sure.
I to am still 50/50 reagarding Pryce, he doesn't do anything flash but if people bang on about Ainscough's try scoring record then why can't we praise Pryce's record? Sure he isn't the quickest of players but he's very difficult to stop within try scoring range. He definitely has some advantages to his game but as other players have he also has disadvantages to his game. I'm happy for him to be a squad player at the right price although ideally he wouldn't be in the starting 17 unless there's injuries.

| How on earth can Pryce be match fit?
He has been 18th man for a number of games so he hasn't played either first team or U20s. Then they ask him to do 80 mins and fans expect him to be the sharpest knife in the kitchen.
I'd like to see him play the rest of the season outside Gleeson when he returns. He won't score any fewer tries than Daz Goulding.
He's not been great but not been disatrously poor either.
Pity he can't get a consistent number of games where he starts. He may then show an improvement on his current performances.

Pryce has made 19 starts this season for the first and U20s teams - do you want to try to think up another excuse?

| Pryce seems to come in for a lot of stick for not making enough metres taking the ball in. There's definitely evidence of this from the Huddersfield game and overall compared to our other backs.
He may also be lacking pace, but he's nowhere near as terrible as some people make out.
His work rate doesn't quite match our other backs consistently but it is improving. I think he's better suited to be a centre, but it would require a lot of work on Pryce's part to prove he can make a name for himself there.
