| I don't really understand the point of having a Northern Rail Cup or Grand Final win as an essential criteria. Ok it's a good yardstick for on-field success, but it automatically rules out clubs with a genuine case for a Super League license application before they can even apply

| It'll be Widnes in definately. The RFL are never going to admit it, but I think they're well and truly embarrased by not giving them a license last time and are desperately counting the days to when they can officially announce that Widnes are in. They'll then sit back on their collective fat 'arris and expect Widnes and the entire RL heartland community to give them a huge pat on the back and say well done, what a good decision when in actual fact everyone will be saying you friggin incompetent baboons, you should have done that last time.
Once that has happened some trainee tea boy will say excuse me Mr Lewis, but you haven't said who Widnes will be replacing. They will then have a hastily arranged meeting, come up with a half d, lame excuse to expel a club and the whole farcical merrygoround will begin again.

| Can't understand why anyone would want to get rid of Cas, I've loved every time I've been to Wheldon Rd, where else do you get such fantastic one liners as 'if that's ten yards he's not fitting my Carpet'

| Thankyou Wigan fans for supporting Widnes and that is why i actually like your fans and club.Your Chairmen has been very supportive about Widnes and i count your club as my second team. It has been disheartening spending many years in the Championship and i know our attendances will average 7-8000 if get into Superleague. If Ste Oconnor and Stobarts back us up, and with our Youth set up improving we will have a great future.I just wish we was told now, as i really miss playing Wigan,Wire and Saints.

It's not for next year, it's the year after isn't it? Or am I just wrong...

| Quote: Renegade "I think Brian Carney summed it up perfectly on Boots N' All. The best fourteen sides should be promoted, saying right now before the applications have been looked at that a Championship club will be promoted at the expense of a Super League club is ludicrous - what if all fourteen clubs in the SL were better than all the Championship clubs? Farce'"
But it's not a fair comparison. Criteria like attendances, finances & so on will always favour the existing SL sides.

But currently, don't Widnes have the edge in most of those areas of a couple of SL teams? Shows how much of a farce it was to overlook them the first time.

I know if Widnes got a licence our finances will be better than a few in Superleague clubs, such as Quins,Crusaders,Salford,Wakey,Cas and maybe Bradford now.We have good backers with Stobarts, and i am confident we will do ok if get the nod.As you all know Widnes u18s Academy is in Group A with your mob. Higher than some Superleague academies, and the u16s went unbeaten and 12 have been signed up for a furthur few yrs.I can not see Widnes wasting money on this if not been given the nod.

I would expect they have more or less decided before the applications.

Don't know about finances, but they're averaging just over 3k attendance (compared to 6.8k for Salford, the worst SL club). That's by far the best in the Championship (next best is Halifax at 2.2k), and would increase massively, of course, if/when they get into SL.
