| We now need to do what Hudds have done and back up other good results with a win against a giant team.

Good, they might get a decent coach with half a clue now.

| According to Sporting Life there was over 10k on at Hudds, not 8k.
As for Mcdermott - sadly it seems evident that those clubs with British coaches will always fall behind those with Australian ones. Brian Noble appears to be the only one who can hang with the best but as we all know even he had his limitations. Already big pressure on Agar and Mcnamara this year - we may be going back to the days of an all Australian coaching lineup in Super League.

| Yes, it's a shame but British coaches always seem to be a few steps behind the Australian ones. If all our clubs were coached as well as Wigan, Huddersfield and Warrington seem to be at the moment, then maybe England will make the necessary improvements.

John Kear hasn't done too bad (although I accept your general point).

Kear seems to do well also.
IMO once Maguire goes we will have the best british coach in the game in Wane.

| I just think Quins are struggling to get quality players in now we have extended the league to 14 teams. I think most coaches will struggle there!

Unfortunately, I think this would reflect the reality of things in the British game. Many times I've said that, IMO, Brian Noble is the best British coach around. Yet in steps Mike Maguire, a chap who wasn't even a first grade NRL coach (though to be fair, he was strongly tipped for that role), and straight away gets far more out of the Wigan side than Noble ever did or seemingly could.
You look at the other best sides in the game currently, and it's basically Tony Smith's Warrington and Nathan Brown's Huddersfield.
Why we are incapable of producing men of this calibre, I just don't know. It doesn't help of course that a man like Richard Agar, whose response to losing is to criticise the opposition's fans, is controlling one of the other top clubs, while the man who probably knew more about RL than anyone else in his generation, Shaun Edwards, is off on another planet assistant-coaching in RU.
Why do we always get things a**e about face?

They need a coach who wants to sign players who arent just cheap championship players.
The problem probably is affording them, 2.5k there today, I would love to know what Quins are doing to get fans in.
They have done well to get a decent sponsorship deal, but they need to kick on off the field and get a coach in who can get them going.

I think they are still owned by our chairman. That is possibly the biggest problem. No one will take them over.

Huddersfield worry more than saints and leeds at the minute. Wire will be a threat all year but the giants could be real dark horses this year. We know they will be consistent but can they perform on the big stage.

I agree, but the lack of crowds etc are probably key factors.
I thought IL had to get rid of the club by a certain date, not that i expected the RFL to follow that through.
