It's not hard to see that Liverpool has a big appitite for sport, admittedly mostly of the round ball type, but still surely this can be exploited. I mean, I've had a season ticket now for the past 5 years so surely there must be other scousers who are willing to give RL a try but have never really known its existance despite it being on their doorstep. Plus, I just hope we get the extra support before those over the hill do
Very good point. I think this tends to get neglected because of the prevelence of the round ball game but, as you say, many people are interested in more than one sport! Despite it's popularity football isn't for everyone anyway and there must be loads of people for whom SL would be their first sport if they got to experience it.

| Could somebody who goes tonight please post the salient points after the forum. IIRC at the last forum someone produced very good summary (Berts medal?)
Thanks in advance.

| The decades I'm writing about are pre Mo's days.
As for a management with an agenda, of course they have an agenda, you can't run a business without one.
Questions about signings and discussion about players and their contracts then confidentiality comes into it. Contracts are of course contracts of employment. It's right that they not be discussed at Forums.
The whole way the club is run is massively different than it was. For the better too. I like the forums but don't expect too much "inside" info as then it wouldn't be inside but the opposite.
I agree that they are all part of the marketing package being run by IL and the club. That's what makes Wigan RL the best marketed club in SL by a very long way.

Season tickets? Do Coventry Bears supporters even have to pay admission to watch games?
Actually Scrap that...
Do Coventry Bears have supporters?

I dont know to be honest, I cant imagine they would have many season ticket holders if thats the case. It was just an idea, it could be open to all fans. Point I was trying to make was that it would be a good idea to try and get more fans from the Midlands, whilst they have this link with the Bears.
Im sure something will happen with kids who play rugby league down here too, as in a day trip to a Wigan game and tour of the stadium.
Coventry IMO is one of the best places to market RL in the Midlands.

Well if you are I am not being funny but I see even less point in the comparison. It was a different era with different expectations.
IMO Wigan have always been a progressive club. We have suffered the odd blip every now and again but if you look back over our history for the majority of it we have been very innovative in various ways often leading the way forward.
We may well be about to do that again under IL but I don't think it's fair to slag off what happened before based on what is going on now. We should be pleased that we look like a modern club up with the expectations of the current generation(s) of fans (and fans forums are part of that) but decades ago this sort of thing just wasn't on the agenda and the fact the club was a run as it was just wasn't different than any other club at the time.
