We have to assess the situation, cap, contract upgrades and our long term squad.
The right player upfront was not available this year, so rather than waste the money be patient, there are some class players off contract in 2011 no point attempting to bring in a Prop on a 1 year deal as frankly i do not think any Prop accepting a 1 year deal would improve us in the slightest.
What we have here this year are the final pieces of the jigsaw being put into place.
2011 will be the last piece.
2010 should see us return to being competitive and realistic challengers, 2011 should see us become realistic front runners.

I know wat your saying but if we wanted someone to teach and develop sam whats up with leuleui....or if you want someone WC why not table an offer for orford like bradford have done or lockyer who was out of contract. To be perfectly honest the ONLY thing deacon can teach and develop in sam is his kicking game & pos his temprement on occasions. Other than that sam is already a better player than Deacon in every other area......deacon as a coach possibly, but for me as a player he is a waste of money and im shocked by how many on here seem to think his signing is a good thing.
The only positive I can see out of it is indirectly that at least it should displace riddell if he is as bad as last season, and so makes us slightly stronger in that department, - other than that i really dont see the point in bringing a player back to wigan who was only ever a decent player and not good enough for wigan in his pomp, and is distinctly average now!!

Tommy is also still learning, both need work on there organisational skill and kicking, seems a good decision to me and as good a stop gap as you are going to get.
Again i think he has been signed with a view to 2011, but who could be a useful addition for 2010.

| Deacon at his best was the best scrum half in England at that time. Look at his International performances.
However, he didn't make 60 yard breaks so didn't look flash. His passing, kicking and organising game was superb.
He had runners around him that he could put into space.

| MM must know all about Piggy being in the NRL, maybe its not Mickey Mc that has a problem with his position in the squad next year but rather the pigster... then again MM and Wane seem to have chatted everyday so Wanes opinion on Mickey is bound to have come up in conversation if there is a problem with Mickey's attitude.
Everyone has a clean slate in 2010 IMO, with a new coach who is keen to train each player both physically and skills wise, (which seemed to be lacking under noble), I will give everyone a fair crack to prove their worth!

Why? I know what I personally saw so it's not like I'm repeating a story I heard from another person!

Contrastingly, I'm not shocked that, yet again, there are one or two who see a smart move by the club as a mistake.
