IMO there is an obvious choice, the wire pack is pretty amazing so all our props need to be on their game, I think now would be a great time for Fielden to have a great game.
Also, this is Sam Tomkins chance to put his foot down and claim the spot as the best young player around. I hope he takes the pressure well and has a stormer.
Finally, what should we do in terms of tactics? I don't think last time we played them, peppering their line early on really helped and with it being such a big game I would like us to settle in with a good kick and chase and take a try as a bonus rather then panic trying to score early points on their line. We need to work hard make their props work overtime to make sure they are tired come the end of the game. With us playing 5 props I think its a no brainer that we should keep all of them fresh with lots of interchange between them and use Hanson as a battering ram to give them a rest. Our backs can carry on their current form IMO and that includes Roberts.
Ideas everyone?'"
We did pepper their line but not with any pre-planned moves.
We need dummy runners and players being put through holes.
Why don't we even have a move involving Feka near the line?

Sometimes I find it fustrating that we do not use Feka enough when close to the line.
Not only would he have a chance of actually getting over the whitewash, he also attracts more than a couple of defenders which then spreads the defence and creates space away from the ruck. Players such as Harrison Hansen and Joel Tomkins thrive off hitting gaps through scrambled defences.

Been saying this for years. Do not understand the mentality of a coach who has a living battering-ram in his pack, but never uses him that way when close to the line. Surely it'd be worth giving him one drive for every set of six we have (and usually waste) in the green zone?

Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good

Paul Anderson used to do it quite a bit and was succesful. Hansen is great at going through gaps, he scored a brilliant try in the comeback at the bulls in 07.

| Don't get drawn into a forward battle, Warrington like to do that and thats when Wigan have been sucked into poor rugby in the past. Just attack like we did against Leeds (2nd half) and defend like we did at Saints.

you can't just attack like that, if your forwards aren't winning the battle there is no momentum in your attack from the start

What he is trying to say is that we should play the game our way and play the game up the right end through a good kicking game and maybe making ground outwide.

yea but if your forwards are getting steam rolled to say, then you have no field position even with good kicks, as seen many times even the best of half-backs can't play behind a beaten attack

It's not like it'd even be that difficult to come up with a couple of little set moves close to the opposition line that would involve Feka.
It's baffling as to why we don't have something in place.

| i think a lot of your over confidence and disrespect could be your undoing both teams in very good form whom both command respect on the pitch a game which is far too close to call it's whoever keeps their nerves on the day will win if you are so confident go and stick 200 quid on it

I can't believe what I am reading.
No one is over confident, hence the nerves thread.
Wire fans were saying months ago its in the bag
