Well he's not going to start pushing Chad Randell or Danny Orr, as they didnt forearm smash Sam.

I think you have just answerd you own question. People are up in arms for the cowardly nature of attacking a yongster. IMO he would need some big Kahunas to try it on one of the big lads becasue we all know what would have happened after it.
Personaly i agree it was a bad one, however i do think that this has been over hyped. if Sam had of suffered an injury because of it then fair enough, but he never, he was back on his feet almost straight after. Like it or not these things will happen in a game that is as aggresive as ours.
Sams a tough lad and he has been targeted plenty before and always will be. it is in the contract if you are a flair type player.
So i agree with you

My issue is the intent, and i would be outraged to see it done to any player of any club, it was a cowardly calculated head attack with the elbow.
He does not have to have badly injured Tomkins if the intent to do so was there which i feel it was.
10 games i doubt, but he needs 4 or 5 minimum, the game is tough enough without deliberate head attacks like that.

Newton got 10 months!!!! The RFL set the precedent. I didn't agree with it and thought it too extreme but if that's the going rate then fair enough. Luckily things like this are very rare and Sam didn't get a serious injury. The only incidents I can recall similar are Newton's and Cassidy's. Absolutely disgusting

| Disgraceful tackle 6 games at the very least as hadn't Ganson already blown up for a for a forward pass yet Howell proceeded to try and smash Sam in the jaw? No room for it in our game.

I'm certain Ganson would have waved play on..!'"
To be fair to the referreeing team, Ganson didn't see the "tackle" at all, nor did the touch-judge see it clearly.
The play was stopped, and whilst Ganson was sorting out the ensuing fracas, Ian Smith (video ref) pointed out that there had been "something in the challenge".
He then reviewed it on the video and fed back that there had indeed been a deliberate elbow thrown at Sam's head.
A good bit of intervention from the video ref, and a good job by Ganson to both listen and more importantly, to take appropriate action and trust that his colleague was correct.
He could have just put it on report, but fair play to him for having the stones to send a man off for something that he himself hadn't seen.

| howell could have tackled him fairly one on one.....instead he chose to hit him with his elbow.
it wasnt a spur of moment thing like you see when somebody puts a swinging arm across a player who side steps them.
tomkins was running at him, and he had plaenty of time to decide how he was going to stop him, so imo it was premeditated and deserves the wrath of the RFL coming down hard on him as a deterrent to other, like they did with newton.
10 games at least for me, but they'll probably take the easy option of "sending off sufficient"

Aye, one thing you could never say against Ganson is he cops out of the big decisions. Fair enough in my opinion. Obviously there's a bit of 'rough wth the smooth' in this approach but at least you know where you are with him!

Thats the point, cowards dun do it to the big fella's. lots of people cut me up in their cars, or will be keyboard warriors, but would not dare do it to my face. Cowardly, no other word for it. Hope they take a strong view on it.
