However it is used as the main pharmaceutical ingredient of a prescription drug, Esterom which is a solution for the relief of muscle pain.
Maybe I'm clutching at straws here, but is it possible that he's slipped up and taken the substance accidentally via a pain relief tablet?'"
Would the club doctor have given him the tablet then ?

Well he could have but we have a club doctor don't we and I am sure in the drug testing world of sport, the rule for all players must be take nothing you do not get prescribed by the club doctor.
I am also sure our club doctor isn't daft enough to prescribe a drug that could lead to a positive drug test. I suppose stranger things have happened but it is highly unlikely IMO.

| I'm bloody sick of this (supposed) drug that he's taken. Every weekend you see too many daft gets piling into the toilets together for a little get together. Society is awash with it.
All said and done though there is still that little thing called choice and it seems Mr Hock made the wrong one big time.

Why should it be a $hit player ?
Its Hock ,who most will say is a very good player that has committed the crime .Why wish it on someone else? The $hit player you mention may train a lot harder and put more effort into their game ,but lack that little skill . Plus at the end of the day the $hite player is DRUGFREE

He shouldnt have taken it in the first place.
I will ban my young un from reading some of the comments on here -- cant believe people suggesting his crime is to get caught.'"
I wasn't condoning what he has done but given the google search on here about masking it and alleged widespread use in certain areas of society then it seems certain to me that he was stupid to get caught, a point that doesn't surprise me.
One question is, if the test is so easy to fool then, why not find a workaround
If the facts are correct with traces remaining for months then the RFL drugs test should include having a sample of hair taken as well.
This news is not only a bad day for rugby league but also a sad reflection on society today, it highlights the inadequacies of the testing system which obviously need to be more stringent.

theres no place in sport for drugs......or in life for that matter.
if i had my way convicted drug dealers would be hung.'" Absolutely agree. We need to start being tough on these players who bring our gam into disrepute. There are journos just waiting to kick our game, and things like this and assaults will give them ammo. It does frustrate me though that players are allowed back after 2 years, although I suppose that is the point of rehabilitation.

He's up Wigan with his mates. They're all doing it so he joins in. Like you say, anyone with a brain would say no and anyone with a brain who realised they could lose their livelihood would stay a mile away, but...
One thing though. I can't imagine he's the only player, and I'm not just talking about Wigan, who's been taking things he shouldn't.
Hopefully this will send a message to any other players spending their saturday nights in certain club toliets.

The bloke just doesn't have 2 braincells to rub together !! Idiot !
The club should take a stand and sack him now !! And bring Mossop back.
