Myler rejects longer Salford deal

There are two money issues when signing a player like Myler. Any transfer fee involved and how much he wants wages wise.

The latter ought not to be a problem in competing with the favourites (Wire) to sign him as they have plenty of high profile players and so its obvious they do not have a bottomless pit of money to offer him. They work to the salary cap as well and we have several players off contract at least one of which is supposed to be on a high wage.

So its all to do with how you place a value on a young talented scrum have who could be here for 10 years alongside Sam T. The chance to get a British half back (don't forge the federation trained rules are starting to have an effect) seems to me to one where you ought to push the boat out a bit.

The same applies to the transfer fee. Well worth the chairman dipping into his pocket for the above reasons.

He might but you don't don't know he has and unless this mythical player has signed I would hope IL would peruse Myler instead because he is clearly available.

Our team is a mess IMO and we won't fix it by signing an experienced (read old) pro scrum half for two or three seasons. Sometimes young players are actually as talented as they are made out to be, ready for playing week in and week out and so on. I see nothing to suggest Myler does not fall into this bracket and it isn't as if we don't have more experienced cover with TL signed up already.

Talk about pure speculation! Where have you dreamt this one up? The idea would be to play them in the same team alongside each other. Why would he get upset?

Valid reasons? The first one (money) is obviously valid, the rest are born out of imaginary situations you have dreamt up, i.e. we may have signed a player, some experienced pros (who?) may disagree, Sam T may get upset (that's a classic).

I don't think you have a great hold on reality yourself given the speculation in your "valid" reasons for not signing him.

There may well be valid reasons for not signing him but I can't see any obvious ones apart from the money side of it. The upshot is we have the chance to create a half back partnership that could give us the stability in these two key positions for years to come.

Instead of thinking for reasons why we ought not to do this simply to defend the chairman, have you not even considered it might be a great signing to make?
