Run towards the ref is always a good tactic though!

I only saw a bit of this game with being busy today and noticed his try my question is was he run straight at the ref knowing that the players could not touch the ref?

He was our player of the season last year and must be close with Field this year, the blokes a physical freak and looking at him must have the potential to play deep into his thirties.

Obvs as a wire fan I hate him but honestly he’s been immense for so many years now for you lot. So tough(dirty) skilful and fast for a second rower, awesome player.

His usual contribution would be more than enough, but then he posts a try every week on top!

Outstanding player and I'm glad to see him finally getting the recognition he deserves, particularly from opposition fans.

A special mention to FTV for showing his face unlike a certain NonWolves69 I could mention. He even managed congratulations which I'm sure must have come through gritted teeth. Fair play to him.

Surely the first player to be announced for a contract extension, quite possibly playing the best rugby in his career at the moment.

I was on about him Saturday evening and I’ve always said Terry Newton was probably my favourite Wigan player in my time watching the club but I think I put Faz on a par now. He’s just sensational and the fact he seems such a great lad make it all the better. I’ve always been a bit stumped why his outrageous consistently brilliant performances and his machine like fitness levels don’t seem to get him the plaudits somebody like James Roby (rightfully) gets and has got throughout his career. Maybe that’s coming now and so it should. There have been second rowers at Wigan over the years that may have done the odd thing better but as an all round package, he’s the best I’ve seen.

I think it just about is now - although to be fair I think even some Wigan fans have been in danger of underrating slightly him until fairly recently.

Go back a couple of years and you'll see a few attempts, either on here or in the local press to try and put together Wigan's best team of the SL era/last 20 years, that sort of thing. Admittedly we've had some very, very good players in that time, but I seem to remember Farrell getting left out of teams in favour of others like Hoffman, Bateman & Hock.

Obviously there's no shame in getting pipped by such class players, but I suspect that there are plenty of Wigan fans that would rate him as the best of the lot now who may not have done even a couple of years ago.

He’s a minimum of 7 out of 10 every week, every season.

Not the most eye catching player but he is the ultimate pro.

Even with the changes in halves he soon clicks with them with his late line shift.

Seems to me he is the kind of player that looks after himself away from the field.

He doesn’t need to be given the captains tag or shout and scream at his team you can just see he is respected by everyone for his actions.

A new contract is a must, and I’m sure it’s already been sorted.
