Games as big as Grand Finals define individuals and clubs. Remember, we only rent these journeys. In my time I had Pat Richard's shirt. Ellery Hanley had Sean O'Loughlin's jersey. Sam Tomkins is wearing Radders' number one jersey. Andy Coley is wearing Shaun Wayne's jersey. You have to make a mark in these shirts before you hand it down to someone else. Hand it back. So be aware for 80 minutes that you are not only playing, but you are also writing history and creating legacy. How many people actually write history - not many? A big stage demands big players…..INSPIRE YOUR TEAM MATES.

This is the problem with loyal club men, they can become a burden. Players like Wellens taking up cap space is great for everyone else, but personally I find it a bit sad.
I really wish he would do the decent thing and retire whilst he still has any credibility rather then drag his name down, as he has been a half decent player (never top class) for a brief spell in his career.

He needs to pay his mortgage whay on earth would he turn down a new deal! How many players go out at the very top? |

But should the club be paying it for him?
Pride and the risk of tainting what legacy he has made for himself.
I am certain the club would look to retain his services in some non playing capacity also.
There is a dip in form, or going out at the very top, but rarely such poor performance from a player who is proving to be a bit of a speed bump. |
