Easily done by train, 1hr 40 mins with one change in manchester. Not too bad to drive there either, but i dont know about parking near Brammal Lane.

2 trains an hour from Picadilly to Sheffield (Plus another more infrequent one, but that stops everywhere on the way)

A few minutes walk from the station to Bramhall lane, and quite a few pubs around too.

Slightly cheaper getting day return to Manc @ £3.20, then singles Man-Shef and back @ £5 each

I went for the above option of splitting it Wigan to Manchester and Manchester to Sheffield. Booked it when the kick off was originally planned for 3pm rather than 4pm, so I've got a bit of a race back to the station at full time now, but it worked out very cheap booking in advance, and with a 16-25 Railcard too. I think the whole thing came in at less than a tenner, with the match ticket free - bargain, and looking forward to a good day out.

Even with free tickets and the chance to watch Wigan I would not step foot into that stadium.

I am a Sheffield Wednesday fan as well to make things a tad clearer

Not a chance

I have been there a few times and after having Sheff U fans fire a flare up into the away stand, being hit by a bottle, my wife getting punched outside the ground by some hardman fan and with Sheffield United's continual washing of there hands of the problems at Bramall Lane there is no chance I will step foot into that hellhole again.

Add to that SUFC insist on giving Wednesday fans the bottom half of the away end and the United fans the top half, so Wednesday fans get bottles of p*ss chucked down and spat upon as well.

I refuse to put any money into that god awful club be it watching Wednesday or Wigan. I know a few Wednesday fans who watched the Eagles are not going now they have gone to Bramall lane.

Granted this is all football rather than rugby but SUFC will be getting something out of the Eagles playing there, hence our non attendance for the game.

Ive been there watching Bolton and lets just say it aint the friendliest place ive ever been. You have to fight your way out at full time sometimes, police just stood there watching like theyre enjoying the violence. I dont know how theyve got away with it for so long.
